For anyone planning to go to California state parks or state beaches, the 2008 budget proposal includes closing 48 state parks and reducing lifeguards to 14 state beaches.

This is not a good thing as some of the parks and beaches look very popular.

Ah bugger, well, I'm in favor of a tax increase of some variety in California to keep them open , (note the sarcasm here), perhaps one of those engine displacement taxes like Washington's cookin' up .

I live in California too and saw the same thing. Some of the proposed closings really surprised me. I was glad to see Rincon Parkway was not one of them, but I guess thats Ventura city.

Wow...RV42, thanks for posting that link. Had not heard this. The Salton Sea Park we had just visited: fresh and new. Wonder if some of these places will become new 'private enterprise' RV parks.
