California plans to ban small IC engines by Jan 2024
Includes generators!!! Can't believe this won't affect the RV and campground industry. This will most certainly put a damper on camping in the "great state of CA!

The article says that they are banning the "sale" of new IC engines. Does that mean existing engines are grandfathered?

If so, start buying up used generators now, for sale later at much higher prices. Don't you love the way the government cares for its people's needs?

Eventually California will ban California and they'll just eliminate themselves.

A battery powered generator would be silly - more likely the state will require that all generators must be of the plug in type - or maybe that they run on pixie dust -

must be of the plug in type
So you can charge them with plug in power plants, that just plug into the plugs.

I hope this means the end of small engines having to meet cali carb requirements for the rest of the country to be honest.
If they cant sell them there, their is no reason to keep making them their way.

Banning ICEs would require the availability lots of cheap, reliable electrical energy. Isn't it strange that the state with the most expensive and least reliable electric grid is the first one to propose this?

A recent executive order essentially creates a cabal between the EPA, CARB and the US DOT. So when California comes up with a preposterous rule you can expect the Federal government to implement that rule nationwide.
