Calling all wives ...
Hi everybody 🙂
I was just wondering if anybody out there would share with me their RV list they use to pack it for the first time.
I would really like to be able to print it. and keep checking it from time to time thanks so much ...
I'm not the most organized person, so would also appreciate any TIPS on where you stock and stow in a Class A ....
Hugs
Jo

First and foremost, a pen and notepad to write down all the stuff you forgot and need to buy or put in the motorhome as soon as you get home.

I'm sorry that I can't help. Her list begins with clothes and ends with clothes. I kid you not. She hates my cooking, so we eat out alot.

Camp for the first few times close to home. Pack everything you think you need. If you forget something, you are close enough to go back home and get it.
Build you're list from that.
And I'm not sure why wives had to be asked. Med help with thre packing and getting ready also.

I am sharing our provision list .... it's pretty specific to our wants and needs, so please don't laugh at it. At least it's a place to start.
I am attaching it in PDF format, but if you have Excel, I can send it in that format so that you could alter it to fit your needs.
I tried to send you a PM but couldn't find how to attach the document there.

thanks aspengirl. I am a widower and I find that your list reminds me of the many things I wish I had remembered to pack. I printed it and will check against my inventory in the rv. Hope next trip will be more pleasant having things I always seem to forget.

There are several good camping lists already made of you google that you can print. I use my reminders app on my iPhone. I make a "Pack" list the week or two before we go somewhere adding things as I think of them and then as I pack them I click them as complete. The beauty is when I want to do it again I can click "show completed" un-click them and then complete them again as I pack time and time again!!! It's always handy because it's on my phone! I also keep an "RV restock" list so when we are out and use up napkins, spices, cups, etc, I can add them to my list and don't have to worry about remembering to take it when I go to the store... anytime I find myself in the store, I just check my re-stock list to see what i need to grab!

I have 3 totes in the basement that I filled so they wouldn't freeze in the garage. Need to put them back out there and haven't. They contain canned foods and also things like spaghetti, just items that are sealed
in containers, even sugar and such if I'm planning on going again in a couple of months. Depends how often you go.
When I get home, I wash all the linens and towels, throw rugs and put them all back in so that's done. I leave all my pots, pans, dishes, have gone more to the plastic plates and cups that are throwaway after hitting some really bad roads and the cabinet came open and broke a bunch of dishes, what a mess.
I do need to check the bays as I keep lots of stuff down there too. I take all the food out and pack away so mice and bugs won't be attracted.
I have a tool chest, pads to put under the jacks, lawn chairs, rug for ground, ironing board, iron upstairs, cleaning products, a small ladder
so I can wash my windshield and pull down my awnings. Also a vacuum and broom. Hoses, filter, for water, large heavy duty cord for electric hookup. We keep our surge protector bolted in the electric compartment.
The inserts for the end of the hose to empty tanks in one bay and disposable rubber gloves and I do it AFTER the water is hooked up. Also clean old towels in my fresh water bay for leaks and a pad for kneeling on in case I have to get in there.
Do remember you can buy just about anything you forget along the way.

Hi Jo, I was in your shoes last year. First I Googled and found all the wonderful lists that are available on line. Then I sat in my dining room and in my head went thru everything in my kitchen that I use constantly and wrote them all down - literally. Right down to my garlic press. Then I went thru everything in my kitchen and pulled out all of the duplicates or extras (like knives) and put them aside for the motor home and marked them off my list. From there I decided which items I had to have in the motor home and started looking at local flea markets and garage sales for them. I really had very few items that I had to purchase. We have our coach outfitted in such a way that we don't have to remember to bring items each time we travel. I did the same with food. Our trips are long so when we are packing to leave, I take just about everything from our pantry and refrigerator and put it in our coach. This method worked for us. I kept my list and am using it this year as well. I try to store heavy items below the counter top but sometimes the space doesn't work out that way. My husband has made braces for the upper wall cabinets to keep items from falling out while we are traveling. I keep items I use everyday close to my work area and items only used once in a while further away. After making a few trips, you will find that you reorganize and that you also take a lot of items home and bring ones you find you need. Oh, one last thing. I have several of the large canvas tote bags from Lands End and/or L. L. Bean. They are great for carrying items from the house and to the coach and vice versa. It is a process but one that it a lot of fun. Good luck and enjoy your travels. Jeth

We also leave all the bath and bed linens, dishes, pots and pans, slow cooker, etc. in the motorhome. Hubby has all the tools, plumbing needs, etc. in the outside storage so the only things we need to pack before leaving, is the food, clothing, camera equipment, laptops and the "very special" dog!

Take everything you think you are going to need out of the house and lay it out. Then put half of the stuff back and what you have left is a starting point!

We do the same. We use it as a second home and outfit it as such.
Hints on packing, get some of the rubberized type shelf liner. Cut it into sizes you made need to keep things from sliding and clinking as you drive. It can also help protect breakables.
After our first trip in our current motorhome, I repacked things after we figured out how we were going to use things. We added some things and took some things out.
Once you get it honed down to your must haves and have it packed for a trip, take it and get it weighed just to make sure you are within your MH's limits!

Great lists and ideas! Glad to see some wives chatting - I feel like I was the only female on the board.
We are in the middle of packing for our first trip of the year with our brand new camper (our rig from last year burned to a crisp so we start from scratch again!). This is a short trip just to try out everything before longer trips this summer.
What I do is think within categories.....what do I do when I wake up (coffee, warm sweatshirt and leggings to sit outside if chilly, breakfast for me/kids/hubby). And thinking about dinners and go through some typical things to make and every single item I would need to prepare those dinners. Of course we will shop throughout a longer trip, but just thinking through things like I need for one of our typical meals - e.g. salt/pepper/olive oil/potato peeler... etc) helps jolt my memory on what things I need on hand.
Once I start thinking through a typical daily routine in great detail it helps me remember little things that I may forget. I also try to pack in an organized way - such as packing ONLY bathroom things, then ONLY my clothes, then ONLY my handicapped daughter's supplies - if I try to do too much it gets overwhelming. Finish one category of items then move on...
