Campendium sold Anybody have an opinion?
I have been stationary for three months and have just gone to Campendium again. Seems it is now part of a different company. Not unexpected since the business model these days it to start something then sell it once it is doing well.
It appears we have to join Roadhouse for $20 per year if we wish to use Campendium. This has not happened yet. It sounds like we will have to pay for Roadhouse in addition to our Campendium fee. I love campendium but doubt that I want or need Roadhouse. Has anyone made the change? Is it worthwhile? Is there another site as good as Campendium for boondocking as an alternative? I still use several phone aps but for a more detailed look at boondocking sites I have not seen anything to compare to Campendium.

Since I’m home for the winter season I haven’t used Campendium for a few months. Just logged into Campendium and created an account on Roadhouse. Never asked me to join for a fee. Went back into Campendium and seems to work just as it has. No fee. What am I missing?
Enjoy the journey

Thanks
OK. Then I must have misunderstood their reply to my question. No extra, just new ownership. Hope it remains a s good as it was.

I just went on and I didn't get anything different than I had in the past.
Campendium is an app that shows campgrounds. It lists amenities and has reviews. We use it often.

I've had a Campendium subscription for a number of years now and rely quite heavily on it for planning purposes. I still have the email from early 2021 where they announced that they were joining the Togo Group which is a family of RV Travel tools. In that email they stated that basic access to Campendium would remain free - and in fact I see on the Togo Group website today the description of Campendium is that basic use is still free. There are some additional features on Campendium that are not available unless you are a paid subscriber such as expanded filtering capabilities when searching but basic use will not require a subscription.
Once Campendium became a part of the Togo Group they started using the Roadpass account for subscriber access. However, no additional fee above what I was already paying for the Campendium subscription was required. The basic Roadpass account is free but not surprisingly for some of the other tools not much can be done without a paid subscription to them. I am still paying the same $20/yr Campendium subscription so the only real change is the use of the Roadpass account to access my Campendium account.

That's a bummer. I used campendium.com a ton for a couple years. I don't know about mobile, but for use with a web browser on a larger screen, it was the best.

Not sure what to be bummed about - you can still use Campendium for free with or without the free Roadpass or the paid Roadpass Pro account. When you bring up the initial page with the login details simply click on the Campendium logo at the top left of the page and it will land you on the main Campendium page where you can still do all the same things you did for free before.

I like using Campendium so pay their "Pro" subscription (or whatever they call it) annually to help support them. Not sure if they need my help, but I appreciate their service and can pay the $20 fee. There is nothing wrong with using it for free either since they offer the option.
Thanks,
