Campground Site Maps

Ever wonder how sites are arranged at a campground before you arrive.

We were going through campground brochures and found this website:

We have always found the Campgrounds own website to have a sitemap as well as photos of the park. RVINGUSA, I think, is the site run by Southeast Publications, and is used as a marketiing tool to get RV Parks to contract with them for sitemap.

We have done away with 'the big books' in this day of the web. Google earth has served us better to locate parks and with few exceptions we have always found the park to be as represented. (When it was not we visited campgroundreviews.com and found out why)

We also have some of our own members reviewing at this location...and I have found that Google Maps in satellite view is such a great tool to not only check the campgrounds out...but it is a nice way to check the roads too!

I use all methods available but I prefer Microsoft Live Maps. Once there, put in the name of the town/city, then zoom down and then reenter RV Parks and you will get a view of the RV Parks in that area. Or you can just put the address of the RV park in the search pane. Take a look at birds eye view if it is available. It may be necessary to do an aerial view and center on the area for the birds eye view.

Google maps also has a street level capability that is real neat, but it is limited on some areas.

Just a note, from what I have learned so far, Microsoft Live Maps charge campgrounds to be on their local listings, whereas google does not, nor does yahoo. You may be missing some great campgrounds if you're not checking all of the options...

I had never heard that MS Charges, but as stated, there is more than one source of information.

Do you have a source of information that MS Charges for input to their map service?

Thanks.

Hi MM , it's Cozy Comfort RV Park in Dolores, CO. I've tried to insure that we're listed on most of the "local" searches, so after reading the original post here, I went to check and see if we were listed on MS... as it turns out I hadn't put our park on there yet, so I looked into it and could only find paid advertising options.

As stated: Just looking for a source on the information. I'd say that Brenda was the good source.

I looked at the web site fo Cozy Comfort. Reasonable, and we are headed MAYBE to CO this summer. Heaven knows I would not want to be there in the Winter. Below 70 and I'm freezing.

Again, one must use all resources available to find items on the internet. There is no one complete source. Then, when you find something, only beleive half of what you read - or less - until you check it out for yourself or have a good friend you can rely on.

Thanks.
