Camping World

Although I have heard some negative comments about Camping World in the posts, I have to say what a great experience I have had over the last few months while ordering items for our new RV.
They have bent over backwards for me in providing not only friendly service, but have made several recommendations on products that have actually saved me money in the long run. As well the girl I dealt with today recommended that I delay my order for a few days because some of the items were going on sale. I feel they offer great service. Admittedly they are the big player and have their issues, but I feel that they provide top service and at fair prices.

I've found service varies widely from one CW to the next. No consistency so ya take your chances. Glad you got one of the good locations!

Totally agree. We had an enjoyable shopping experience in San Diego, and the CW in Las Vegas and Denver both had attentive staff willing to help with our selections. Sadly, my local CW in Santa Clarita is staffed with pleasant but often uniformed employees. Stock checking an item by phone prior to a 30 minute drive is impossible, out of stock specialty items seem to be the rule, and if they are busy, don't expect them to direct other staff to assist. Guess you found a good one.
Happy Trails.

I have had good and not so good experiences with CW. But one thing that I have discovered. I can often find some items cheaper elsewhere with a little online searching. For instance, I just found the Rhino-Flex sewer kit for about 25% less through walmart.com. So if you find something that you just have to own through CW, do a little homework first and see if it is sold elsewhere cheaper, or with less shipping costs.

I wrote Marcus Lemonis on RV.net to provide specific feedback from a visit to the Roanoke, VA store shortly after it opened. I was troubled by the lack of information/preparation the employees had. He wrote a very nice note back and I have to say that every other visit I have made to the store has been great. I encourage you to give specific feedback directly to the company.

Camping world is the largest chain of stores in the RV business... This means that some stores will be fantastic... And some.., well, not so good.

I have had good luck with the one I deal with the most (only one very minor complaint) and no serious complaints about any of them

Save for a few price tags that are a bit higher than is reasonable.

But even that's not their fault to be honest about it.

We bought our Winnebago in December from Camping World in Chicago and I can't say enough good things about them! They were fabulous to deal with and when my husband flew up there to pick up our coach, they treated him like a king. We are HUGE Camping World fans! I've also ordered several things online from them and they are great to deal with that way, too.

Forgot to say - I haven't had to deal with our local Camping World yet, so it remains to be seen how that will turn out, but I'm hoping for the best.

My only objection to CW is that they are expensive compared to most of the others. Having said that, if you are careful and shop when their items are on sale, they are not too bad. But, if it is an article you have to have right now, I'd look else where first.

I need my KVH dome reprogramed from Dish to Direct Tv, called a local RV dealer and was quoted 109.00, called CW and was quoted 179.00. I guess I know who wants my business more.

We always check CW for item price. Then we search the webb and 90% of the time get better prices then CW. The webb has better prices then any RV stores we have compared prices with.

I'm willing to pay a few more bucks to a brick and mortar store as I can actually hold the item and see if it meets my needs or not. Our local CW actually has some very good used RV prices even when compared to private sellers on Craigslist. That said, I still shop around. I just ordered an UltraTrac from Brazels yesterday, both because theirs was much less expensive than CW's, they stocked it, and they are a sponsor.

Camping World is one of the few places where repairs to my MH have been done right the first time---pricey but ---right the first time. The last time I worried out loud about the price and stuck to my story long enough to gain the attention of the service manager----he listened to my story and then gave me a fair break on the price.

Retail?---no better or worse than any place else in my experience but they often have what I need---so I go there.

We have had good experiences in Vegas and Phoenix. My question would be, where would we be able to go to, pick up a RV specific item and purchase if it were not for the Camping World stores? I have bought some items over the internet, but I do like to have something in my hands before I make my decision to buy. Yes, they can be more expensive on some stuff, but I've also seen lower prices on other things-that's pretty typical of any retailer.

The best way to program it is to replace it with a Winegard Trav'ler
