Camping World ATTABOY

I normally only go to CW to check out an item to compare with Amazon or some such—have not had a lot of great experiences with their service depts…so, I think I need to pass on an Attaboy—bought a used ’15 Mobile Suites, went thru the PDI ok and this isn’t our first rodeo, so it looked ok for what we expected. Towed it home and it sat in the garage for 4 months til we sold the house. Got all that done in good measure, and headed out to local RV park to see what we had left out/missed/took too much stuff. Wife tried to dry a load in the Splendide dryer and it was reeeaaallll slow and did not dry everything completely. 2nd try, wife said check the vent (one of those nit-picking items that I would guess is not looked at in every PDI) and it was locked shut. It looked as tho the flapper had never been released. Opened it and fished out a ton of lint, but bottom line was the element must have gotten too hot and burned out? At any rate, it did not work. Out of warranty, my fault for not looking at it when first noticed and a mobile repairman not to be found anywhere for next several weeks/months. Went on Monday to CW, about 10 miles from home to check prices on a replacement—they had one in stock. OK, when can you replace it? How ‘bout Wed 9:30A? What, that quick? Yes. Got it there this morning at 9, but tech was at dentist and later had to stay home—service manager stepped in and helped another tech replace the dryer AND put in a remote-controlled vent in the bath room so we didn’t need a stepladder to use it.
Bottom line, we got the new dryer installed with only a one-day wait. In our unit, the stacked units are in a closet in the bath and a TIGHT fit. I was simply surprised that they exchanged the units in less than one hour,
My hat is off to Chad Gross, General Manager, and Raoul the Service Manager. Absolutely no scratches/marring of trim. This is the Camping World located on south I-35W in Fort Worth.
Lot of bad press around on CW, and from myself—so need to pass on the Attaboys when deserved.
Joe

Thanks for the report Joe! CW gets so much bashing that it's good to see they come through once in a while!

Nice to see a Bravo Zulu in regards to a job well done. That it is at a camping world goes to show that the employees and store manager are what make or break "customer service"

Bummer they had to replace the whole dryer. Do these RV dryers have thermal fuses like my home dryer has?

It's nice to see a positive report on CW.

I had a bad experience with them sometime around 2000-2002 timeframe, have never been back to their repair shop but I do shop their stores, not necessarily for good prices but because there's lots of stuff under one roof!

Too much negative and not enough positive reports in this world.
Thanks for the positive! We all expect perfection so it goes unrewarded far too often.
Good on you for posting this.

Nice to see a positive post. People rarely take the time to do so but will complain in a heartbeat. Thanks

ualdriver,
Because of the position of the dryer--the time to remove it, diagnose the problem, get a part if needed--would have added a lot of time to the bill. We just moved in full-time, so did not want to hang around while this took place. Out/in, new unit, new warranty. Took the easier route...
I would think the dryer being just 15 months old, it would make a good unit when repaired--and I assume CW has just the person on tap to do it and resell it--or, maybe they just junk them and don't mess with them.
Joe

Understand. Sometimes one has to pay for convenience.

So far the CW in Garner NC has been good to me. I bought my TT there. I will say I am leery of CW as far as their service dept goes, not impressed on my walk through. Also I had issues with my electric jack, spent too much time on that. They were going to replace the jack but it was fine. They just did not have the time to spend with me on the phone. I figured out my "new" battery was not in good shape. But I bought and install 2 new ones and installed a switch inline. No problems after that.

I just really do not expect much. I see RVs as kind of a racket.
