Campsite bicycle theft
Sad to say it's happened to us...
Bikes 'securely' double locked to outdoor furniture and parked under our bedroom slide out with dog with us in bed. Didn't hear a thing as they snipped the locks and moved the table and chairs...
We're staying at Santa Fe Skies in NM. Very pleasant area, we'd planned to extend our stay as there is so much to do here.
Bikes were very distinctive higher end, Evil - Following and an Ibis - DV9, both 29ers.
Just posting to make people aware that just locking them twice isn't enough.
Also, if anyone sees them, please let me know. The tire and footprint trail didn't go towards the exterior fence of the RV park, it came inwards. I cannot bring myself to think a fellow RV'r stole them, but it's possible.

I hope you filed a police report and had identifying marks on the bikes. Our folding bikes have a special stamp into the metal of the frame.

Oh man, I am really sorry to hear this happened to you. I hope you are right about it being an "outsider" and not a fellow RV'er.

So frustrating for you all... sorry to hear this happened. Do you know if anyone else around you lost anything.

You might want consider something like this.

I have one on my motorcycle. It might not stop a thief, but at least you know someone is messing with your bike.

I'm very surprised to learn it happened at Santa Fe Skies. It's a nice RV park.

Not the we're aware of. Reported to main office and police, they didn't mention anything.
We've alerted other nearby campers with high end bikes that just locking them up won't be enough.

We're full time with no home owners insurance. The RV insurance coverage is meagre with huge deductible. We're working on it, but I don't hold much hope.

Agreed, its clean, nice facilities and in a great location.
What they don't have is a handle on security, sympathy or concern for a theft on their property.
I'm a big boy, it's a nasty world out here but as a paying customer on their property I would've appreciated more dialogue than 'call the police'.
Maybe a call to see if there was anything they could do, visit us and the crime scene. Anything?

Sorry to hear of your losses, as someone else wanted your bikes enough to steal them.
Unfortunately what you just experienced is a societal problem that most likely will get worse before it gets better. Society's departure from the Golden Rule is showing its ugly face.

Why in the world would you think the park has any responsibility?
It's a shame our world has come to this, but high end bikes are worth more to thieves now than generators. Look on the local Craigs List but they are probably already sold.
Hope you find them.

most cable locks can be cut with snips from Lowes....

When leaving bikes locked at rv just store front tires in another area. Not much use without them. Police will be no help other than making insurance claim. Sorry for your loss. Safe travels.
Enjoy the journey
