We have 2 slides in our MH. We want to replace the carpet in the main area with linoleum and then cover with an area rug. We stopped by a RV place in Vancouver, WA and they said we could not replace the carpet with linoleum due to our slide being too close to the floor. If we did, the slide would scratch the linoleum. We saw a mid-range MH at an RV Show that had this problem and it looked terrible.

Our thoughts are to put in a commercial grade carpet that will hold up better then cover it. Or - we saw carpet at a home show that was made from recycled plastic bottles which was soft and will hold up.

How have others dealt with slides that drag the carpet when they came in?

Art & Charlotte, Not all slide designs will damage carpet or even wood or linolium. Unfortunately it sounds like yours might not be the case. Do you have enough room over the top to clear the ceiling to run the room in 6" and then up onto wedges? This will allow you to view under the floor and see if it is a roller design and if so could a roller be broken or stuck? If you will find out the maker of the slide room mechanism and a model would be even better I might be able to help you with a solution.
