Carpet runner.. glue non skid pad to bottom?
I have some six by 4.5 foot throw rugs with non skid backing I got at the discount store.. Nice big loop berber style and work great.. however with the new slide I have to fold them in half every time I move..
I have found some 2.2 foot wide runners but no backing on them. Has anyone sucessfully glued a backing onto a rug?
I may not go with the ones I found as they might pick up everything, a tight berber is probably best. I just wish I could find them already with the backing in about a 12 foot long and 2 foot wide.

I have just discovered Uglu strips. They are like the Command adhesives, but larger pieces. Very sticky, holds TIGHT!!! and can be removed without leaving a mess. I hung a towel bar and tp holder in the bathroom with it. The Uglu commericial shows them used as throw rug hold downs.
DO NOT BUY THEM ONLINE or you wil pay a fortune in shipping and handling. I found them at Walgreens in the As Seen on Tv section.

We have glued non-skid on a couple of runners and they lasted several months to a year. Nothing lasted really long term. The adhesive was ok, but the foam backing it was stuck too peeled away.
There maybe an adhesive that will work better - we tried things like fabric glues and contact cement. I was thinking maybe something like Shoe Goop (flexible and waterproof) might work, but haven't tried it.

I just found on google some spray product:
Amazon.com: NOSKID RUG S GRP 12OZ: Sports & Outdoors
It it works that would be perfect
However I have to find different runners now, I can't go more than 2 feet wide .. it's so hard to find stuff premade. If I had the use of a binder this wouldn't be a problem lol Maybe I can find some leftover at a rug store.

That is good stuff.. Don't know how well it would work for this application but I use it for so many things I can't list 'em all.
How about sewing canning rings to the bottom of the runners.. that's how they used to do it before non-skid was invented.
Oh, what are canning rings.. Rubber rings (usually red) that were used on Mason Jars back before the Ball Pop-Top ring and insert 2-part lids came out.

When we did dog shows, I cut thin carpet to fit the living area with the slide in and another strip to add when the slide was out. I used contact cement, (water based) to glue vinyl carpet runner (with the medium spikes) to the carpet. Kept the carpet in place and somewhat spill proof. Also when the big piece was cutout and fastened under the floor registers, it really stayed put.
On the other hand, Lowes and Home Depot have carpet runner (rugs) in rolls with non skid backing.
Options....
