Carrier Air V. I need some real help

I have a 2004 Keystone Outback 5th wheel. It has a Carrier Air V unit. There is no thermostat on the wall only a hand held remote control. Here's where I need the help. How do I turn the heater on!?!? There are 4 vents in the floor so I'm assuming some type of ducted heat. It's 22 degrees here in KS today. I can really use some help and some heat.

A pdf operators manual would also be real nice. I already searched and found dead links.

Thanks for any help.

If there is a heater there MUST be a thermostat. Look on the outside of the unit and see if you can find the heater intake and exhaust.

Looks like this. If you don't see it then there is no heater installed.

I have experience dealing with a Carrier system in a MH in which the propane-fired furnace (with floor vents) was completely separate from the A/C-Heat Pump but it was still controlled through the remote!!

The display screen at the top of the remote has the different heating and cooling sources listed going down one side. Use the keys on the remote to move the cursor to Heat (might also be labeled Furnace) and adjust the desired temperature (on the displpay screen). Also make sure your propane valve is open on your tank.

If you don't already know this, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but those Carrier A/C units are "orphans". Carrier went out the RV business and I don't believe repair parts are available for any units. Yours could run for years without a problem, but if you have a problem you will, most likely have to replace the roof unit.

The previouse owner had it running when I went to pick it up and it was hot out so the AC blows cold, that I know. I never checked the heat and that's my own fault.

Thanks for all the advise.

If you can't get it started through the remote, there should be two buttons on the air conditioner shroud. One is marked furnace emergency. Just push and hold till the furnace fan starts.

Also, I've found the temp readout on the remote is not accurate. If the furnace does not kick on, keep upping the temp (all the way to 90, if needed) to get it to kick on. Base the thermostat setting on your comfort, not on the digital readout. If that doesn't do it, try the above advice by pushing the E button on the ceiling unit itself. Mine works pretty good but is finicky at times.

On the remote, scroll the Modes from AC to HEat to Fur. Set fan on Auto. Turn temp up until you hear the furnace running, put a foot on a floor register near the furnace for 3-4 minutes, warm air should start coming out. If there is no warm air or the furnace fan stops running, check your LP tanks. Make sure you have gas.

IF you have TWO A/C's the Front is the Most likely

On the remote is a MODE button.. Point it off into somewhere where it won't do anythign and press MODE till either Heat or Furnace is (whichever it shows) Is highlighted on the left side of the LCD display

Then use the UP/Down buttons to select teh set temp'

Now press the ON/OFF to turn it off.

Aimn it at the sensor on the FRONT A/C and press the ON/OFF

It should go BEEP BEEP and your furnace should (if cold enough) Fire up .

NOTE you can aim while you select and adjust (The A/C should acknowledge each key press with a BEEP) But I like to pre set then activate.

If the front one don't do it.. Try the rear.

Thanks to everybody that responded. I got home last night and tried the remote. There was a little delay but I heard a fan cut on under the refrigerator and warmish air started flowing through the floor registers One propane tank is empty and the other is about 50% so I let it run for a few minutes and cut it off to save what propane I have until I can get them.filled today.

We did get two space heaters and even with it being 25 degrees last night we were very comfortable.

Thanks again for all the help and advise.
