I carried an unmounted spare in my excursion because it supposedly had an odd tire size that might be hard to get in an emergency. I have not gotten a spare for my Discovery and don't plan on it.

I have used my spare three times. I seem to have a bad habit of turning too quick and kissing the curb. Tires don't like kissing. Two of the blowouts were while sitting in a parking lot.The third I changed when I noticed the bulge in the sidewall.I hate when curbs move out into the road .

I bought a 7th tire when I bought new Toyos and I carry it on my car hauler in front of the Jeep.
Having a spare is almost a sure fire way to ensure I never get a flat...

I have had five blow outs on a previous coach with 16" wheels. One just sitting in a campground and four others on the road, three in the same day. Believe the tires were just undersized for a 35 ft. coach. I have a dp now and no spare. When I buy new ones, plan to keep one somewhere unmounted. I don't believe you can switch mounted tires between rear and front, as the wheels are not the same. BTW, Good Sam will locate a service to help you, and they will find a tire close to yours to mount for you. However, you will pay for the tire. Last check on a 16" bought on the side of the road was over $300. Don't want to find out what they would charge for a 22.5.

We full-timed 16 years and traveled constantly, including to Alaska. We didn't carry a spare and had no need for one.

I don't see where anyone said they don't, but in the 18 years we've had Type A MH's we've never even had a flat.
