The last time we sold something like this, we had them make a wire transfer from their bank to our bank. Once our bank was satisfied with the funds, we released the title. The wire transfers cost about $10.00 at most banks.

When we first answered his email, we specified that we did not want a cashier's check, and told him the terms we would accept for money transfer, which was his bank wire transfering to our bank, and we wanted to speak via phone to confirm the deal. Of course, we didn't hear back from him, until weeks later when this check arrived. Meantime, I had found all the web info about this guy and knew it was a scam... as my gut feeling had been when we got the offer and his proposed terms.

My husband is a banker and we don't do anything long distance that isn't wire transfered between banks. Unfortunately, I guess many folks fall for these scams.
