I have a 2005/6 Cat C-7. I did have an overheating problem, but it wasn’t an engine problem. It was that the radiator CAC cooler wasn’t clean enough. Since I have cleaned that very well, no more problems. We have 118,000+ miles without engine problems. Did have a heater hose rupture and an overflow line cut which were all FREIGHTLINER problems.

As long as your water pump belt is tight and or your cad/rad is clean no problems. when climbing learn how to downshift.

C7 cat

I had trouble overheating and finally took to shop and they found that one of the thermostats would stick and not turn on the fan to cool. They replaced both thermostats and replaced the fan clutch hub and 46,000 miles and no trouble.
