Cautious when "refueling"

It probably ran rough because it was firing way too soon, much like putting 85 octane in an engine that required 93 octane.

It wouldn't hurt the turbo because it is upstream of the engine. Now, if it backfired into the turbo, it could break a shaft and/or fins as it would try to reverse the direction the turbo is turning.

In Oregon you can pump Diesel, but not Gas. They figure the diesel folks are pros.

Thanks. Didn't know that. I guess the places we've fueled up there have just all had kids come out to pump it and I thought that was because of the law.

Thanks again. Next time through I'm going to insist that I pump my own.

In days of old when I was bold I bought discount gasoline.
The lines froze up, I had to thaw them out so I made the de-icer scene.

My advice sir, Get De-Icer (The advertsemet for Standard, and later AMOCO in Michigan in the winter)

What's De-Icer,, Well about E-1 or E-2 (A bit of alcohol, to be specific HEET gas line antifreeze, In the gas)

Now, why do I bring that up.

Cause British Petrolum bought out American Oil and all their pumps are GREEN.

Hey actually suggested that you add gas to your diesel fuel in the cold winter months?

Keeps the fuel from gelling in cold weather, just like using #1 diesel in the winter. I'm not sure I'd do it!!

Wow....that makes this incident even costlier for the OP.

Note to self: If I ever make this mistake, hire someone to push me a block away from the fuel station, and THEN call Coach-Net. Tell them, "Beats me, it just stopped"!

Does Good Sam Roadside or AAA have the same policy?

It's in my Phoenix American Service contract. Duh moments should be in every contract. I don't know how they would handle it in states that don't allow you to pump your own fuel.

Wow, that's scary! Does Good Sam ERS have this policy also? I was getting ready to change from GS to CoachNet, but this makes me wonder if that's a good decision.

Like Chief02 we noticed last fall that many diesel pumps in the Northeast are yellow, came close to making the same miostake

Being a fuel hauler as well as an RVer, the API (Amer petro inst) color code for diesel fuel is yellow. Green signifies high sulfur heating oil (#2 oil). Still shows Hess is screwed up. Reg grade gas should be white, not green.

Now THATS useful information! My DP calls for low sulfur fuel. If I mistakenly pump the Green fuel in it are you saying it could possibly be "high sulfur" which is not recccomended for my engine?

No, no, no ...

The "official" colors he's talking about are for the markings on tank caps, so the delivery drivers don't put the wrong fuel in the wrong tank. The pump nozzle colors are NOT subject to the same rules, and should never be expected to be uniform. Bottom line, read the words on the pump, don't assume anything from the color.

And you will not find anything but ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel at a gas station or truck stop pump islands. Anything else, like kerosene or off-highway fuel, will be isolated and clearly labeled.
