CB Radio Who has one?
Ive had a CB in my vehicles for traveling for over 20 years.
The new MH doesnt have one and thats on my "to do" list before we head out.
Truckers know whats going on way before a traffic alert shows up on the phone or GPS.
Nice to get off the road for a bite to eat or a nap vs sitting in stalled traffic for hours.

I still have a few CB radios; however, I think you will find the CB band extremely quiet these days except for the skip talkers... many foreign. On the east side of the US of A, I think you'll even find 19 unusually quiet as it appears that most of the truckers have gone to cell phones. Just stop at a truck stop and you'll find it very easy to identify the truck drivers by the single sides headphones for their cell phones.

I have always had CB's in my vehicles over the years. I don't think too many people have them anymore as the airwaves seem pretty quiet where I'm at. I think many trucks don't even have CB's anymore as even the truckers seem to be distracted with cell phone usage around here. Probably a generational thing.

I have one, but it's pretty quiet most of the time. Still a good thing to have for the reason you gave.

I have one and about the only times I use it are if we get stuck at the back of a traffic jam or if we are traveling with another couple.

The one and only time I turned mine on when we had the the Adventurer. I have yet to hook it up in the DS as we mostly travel solo now that the couple we traveled with are no longer with us.

CBs are nothing like they used to be. I have one but it’s been stored away. The static now because of every single device is just creating too much noise. It’s like skip static 24/7. Can’t get out more than a couple miles since the static is so powerful.

I'm glad I saw this thread, I was thinking about putting one in mine. Seems like a waste though. I'll put the money in to wifi booster or something.

We have a CB in our 4x4 Toad.
During our off road adventures we are often in cell dead zones , so the CB becomes our link to the other 4x's we're running trails with.
Removed the CB in the MH and the boat and rely on cell phone or VHF radio.

Remember asking someone “what am I hitting you at?” And they would say 5 or 7 or 10 if you had a good signal to them? Well now static hits you at 8 to 10 instead of getting real quiet once the sun goes down 0-1db now is 8-10db so you can’t hear anything local more than a mile or two away even with a base setup.
I had an amplifier on my old base station and a great tall antennae and tried talking to brother that was 5 miles away and he barely heard me over static and I couldn’t hear him. You’re better off using ham radio.

I believe if you see a trucker taking on a radio it is more likely a single side band than a CB. They are much more powerful and can reach a considerable distance.

Even side band is loud. You could get further out but we’re talking a couple more miles locally. You can skip though.

CB is pretty much dead these days - most people are switching over to either GMRS or Ham.
