Cleaning porcelain toilet

Three year old well used, we're fulltime, porcelain toilet and we've been in a particularly hard water area for a while, now moved thankfully.

Despite best efforts, regular cleaning, we've got a bit of stubborn limescale in the bowl which we can't seem to shift, even used a comercial grade descaler which shifted some but wont clear all.

Any suggestions folks?

PS Tryed the search function and it fails with a can't establish a secure connection message,very strange, though I am using a tablet????

Pumie Scouring Stick available at Home Depot. Use it all the time and it works great.

Try a pumice stick. Works on our S&B toilets.

The best thing we've found is Bar Keepers Friend! It's available in liquid and powder, but we find the powder is more effective in toilet bowls!

Get a Puma Stone at your grocery or hardware store. Soften it in water, don rubber gloves if you have an 'icky' feeling about putting your hands in the toilet, and scrub away. It won't hurt the porcelain if you get it wet first.

Buy some cleaning vinegar at Wal Mart or a grocery store. Fill the toilet above the scale lines (If the lines are high, fill a water balloon and put it in the toilet so you don't need to use too much vinegar) and let it sit overnight. This will dissolve the hard water deposits.

Yes it can and does, I can show you the scratches in one of the stick house toilets!

Thanks folks, some good ideas here. Ordered a pumie stone of amazon, nearest home depot is about 3500 miles I'll give that a go, carefully.

If that fails at least I have more options thank you

As a side note, we started using a water softener last year and it sure helped the hard water problem.

OK, you told me twice so I've oredered some of that too

It's not that I'm obsessed with getting the loo clean, well, OK maybe I am but I noticed the BKF states it's good at cleaning white sinks, another constant battle in the RV. Resorted to bleach on that one but DW and I really don't like bleach.

We use iron out in our s&b. No scrubbing necessary. Just sprinkle it around and let it sit. Quick wipe and it's clean. We have very hard water and have a softener.

Bartenders Friend first. If the scale is too much for it, then pumice stick. No more problems. With the pumice, not only have it wet but use lots of water on the porcelain as well.

I know it's a little thing but we now have a lovely shinny loo again.

And the winner, the pummie stick. A gently 5 or so minutes and lots of water and all good.
