Cleaning the Outside of the RV

I used to own a 32 foot sail boat before getting into the RV life. Strange question. I used to use toilet bowl cleaner diluted with water and a little bleach. It worked wonders getting the black streaks off the sides of the boat surface. Has anyone every used this method on the outside of an RV to get it clean?

Thanks in advance,

No I haven't, but I would caution you about using home brew cleaners. especially if your RV has any stick on striping, you may damage them. best bet is to go to your local RV store and ask for some black streak remover I've used it and it works great.

Welcome to IRV2! I wouldn't use anything like that on an RV! The finish on an RV is probably totally different than that on a boat. I would use a black streak remover made for RV's and a standard car wash liquid!

Thanks in advance,

Toilet bowl cleaner works well with algae because it’s bleach.

Actually toilet bowl cleaner is a mild acid and is often used on boats to get the bottom of the hull clean after haul-out. It would not be a good cleaner for an RV however. For starters it will strip any protective coatings from the finishes of the various materials. Anything you use it on must be neutralized and then immediately waxed/sealed or oxidation will occur rapidly.

As I understand it, most oats have a gel coat g while most RVs have a clear coat like a car. I would use car wash solution on an RV unless I knew to do otherwise.

I use Crown RV and boat black streak remover, It works great, easy to use when you follow directions. Made in KY.
