A favorite dealer scam is to charge a line item fee for the RVIA sticker.

The price of the RVIA sticker was in the MSRP. So was the dealer prep that many now charge extra for - they take those away to increase the discount, then add them back in at the bottom line.

I find it interesting that some camp grounds that I've come across will not allow RVs that do not have RVIA certification, at least on their websites/advertising.

Technically, each state has standards that an RV must meet to be sold in the state, and in many of them specify the same standards for use of the RV in the state. All 50 states accept the RVIA sticker as evidence that the RV meets the standards, simply because the RVIA is the ANSI standard authority for RVs. Others, like the Newell, probably can meet the state standard as well, but a home-made or locally built RV may or may not.

That said, rare indeed would it be for a LEO or CG owner to demand proof for a manufactured rig. But a skoolie or some other home-made unit? Maybe...
