Coachnet California Not
Just went through the sign up process to become a member with Coachnet. After going through the sign up process I came to the last page and saw that there was no California on the drop down list of states. Contacted Coachnet and found out that the service is not available here. So we've got lots of sunshine, little water and no Coachnet.

How 'bout AAA?
How many times have you used roadside assistance?
I have twice in my entire 40+ year driving career.
You might also check with your unit insurance company - most of them have something basic but I think you can upgrade it at an additional cost.
Are you looking for flat repair assistance, mechanical breakdown towing, or? Or both?

Is the same true for Good Sam ERS? What about those Coachnet subscibers who need recovery in California?

No, Goodsam roadside is fine. I have it and renewed it. I just thought I would try Coachnet as I heard good things about them. If you have Coachnet in another state, you are covered while traveling in California.

We've been with CoachNet since 2007, and just renewed last month. We've lived in California for the entire time and we had no problem renewing, or getting service when needed. Is this something new that's come up in the past few weeks?

Yeah, this must be something new. I too signed up for CN while living in California plus the one time I've needed them it was for a call in California.

I just checked their website and the only thing I could find is this statement on their renewal form:
"In California, benefits and services provided by National Motor Club of California, Inc."
And down at the bottom of the page:
"Coach-Net is a registered trademark of National Motor Club ©2014 National Motor Club-RV, Inc. All rights reserved."

When you go to sign up and select your state, California is not listed. Maybe they are renewals only from existing customers. Below is their response to my email:
Thank you for contacting National Motor Club's Coach-Net RV Membership Plans, a trusted name in roadside assistance since 1956. Our mission is to provide you with the exceptional service and support you need to make your membership experience as rewarding as possible.
At this time Coach-Net is not available in California.
Should you need further assistance, please contact Member Services at 1-877-801-0333 Mon-Fri (7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. CST).

So, we just called the CS phone number and found out that all current members are grandfathered in, but they are no longer offering new memberships. We couldn't get much more information out of the person, other than they are no longer allowed to sell in California - probably some new government restriction that they could not, or would not, follow.

"probably some new government restriction that they could not, or would not, follow."
Was suggested that the adhesive they use on their mail-out envelopes could be carcinogenic to anybody who licked 46578 envelopes every day for 57 years, so they weren't allowed into California.

I just got off the phone with Coach Net Member Services 3-19-14. They explained to me that anyone with Coach Net can call while in California and services will be provided. However, Coach Net is not allowed to sell a membership to someone from California.

I think the original Coach-Net was sold a couple of years ago. My card has listed "National Motor Club" for a while. That said, they provided great service during a breakdown in California last year.

Just a follow up on "gruelens" post. I live in California and renewed with CoachNet last August I was curious about what was going on. I called today and they told me that anyone in California who is currently a member is covered and can renew next year.
They're not taking on any new members from California because of licensing issues with California. My guess it's something that will eventually be resolved and they'll revert back to accepting new California members. California would be a sizeable market for them to lose.
