Compressor/tire inflator
What compressor or tire inflator do you carry when traveling and why? We have a fifth wheel and pull with a Dually.

I already had several Ryobi 18 volt One + cordless tools, that I use a lot and several batteries. So I bought a
18-Volt ONE+ Cordless Dual Function Inflator/Deflator (Tool Only).

39$ tool only or 98 $ tool + 2 amp hour battery + charger. I do have 4 amp hour battery that I take trips now.
Yeah it it is way slower than even a small portable air compressor. But it doesn't need a 110 volt source, or even need to be plugged into a 12 volt sockit. No cord to deal with at all.
I have a 27' to. I've use it to top all 4 of it's tires + the trucks 4 tires on one charge on a 1.2 amp hour battery (the smallest battery). Yeah it took the full charge a fair amount of time, 1/2, 3/4 hour maybe.
But you can do it anywere anytime.
Ryobi also has a 1 gallon portable air compressor tool only 98$. Don't know anything about it, but I bet it is way faster.

Viair makes a good compressor for sure. But just for convince I used to carry a 20# co2 tank in my trailer, no wires, no fuss, check air in truck, trailer and toys in a matter of minutes. refill it once a year for $30.

I would consider the VIAIR 450P RV as the best, also the most expensive!

There are two key criteria (ignoring cost!) in choosing a compressor/inflator:
1. The max rated psi needs to be well above the psi needed in your tires. For example, if your tires require as much as 80 psi (load range E), then the compressor needs to be able to produce a working pressure at least 20 psi above that so it can force 80 psi into the tire.
2. The air flow (cfm - cubic feet/minute) at the tires inflation pressure needs to be large enough to get the job done in a very few minutes. For a 15" or 16"tire, you can probably do ok with 1.5-2.0 cfm, but for 19.5 or 22.5 you are going to want even more. Any compressor can produce a lot of air at 5-10 psi, but it takes more & better hardware to do it at 60-80 psi. Inflator makers love to advertise some humongous psi and a hefty cfm, but read the fine print. You will likely find that the quoted cfm is at some very low psi, maybe 20-30.
A quality product like the Viair costs more but most models deliver much better performance than the bargain models.

My 2004 Itasca Horizon 40AD has a 150psi Compressor built-in. Works great on my Michelin’s

I carry a Ryobi 6 gallon compressor in my MH. It’s just for the MH tires and works well for blowing off dirt and dust from the quads. Blowing out the interior, BBQ etc
For ATV tires I have the Ryobi mentioned earlier and just got the one gallon. Haven’t tried it yet though. I also have a battery operated Airman inflator that works quite well.
For the Jeep I carry a ViAir 400P Auto.

Thank you all for your experience and opinions! After comunicating with Viair I went with the 400p. Not the top of the line but they assured me it would do what I need and save a few bucks over the 450. Thanks again

The Viair 400 does not have a 100% duty cycle, only the 450 does. Does that not matter to you?

There are a lot of options, but be aware that if you have a compressor without a tank, it makes noise all the time it is running. This is not good if you are touching up tires early in the morning.
A good pancake compressor is bigger but once it gets up to the selected pressure it will pump silently until the air drops too much. I got a Porter Cable model at Home depot and keep it in my bin with a 25 foot cable. I can close the bin door most of the way and it does not disturb the whole park.

PORTER-CABLE CMB15. My favorite one. I use it to fill tires, blow out water lines. Need shore power or generator. I also have a Viair 450 in the toad. I got it went my generator died, no cell service and you guessed it a low tire. 100 duty cycle, still much slower then my porter-cable.
