We have a Lexmark X5650 (all-in-one) at home - don't have anything in the RV yet, but it won't be another Lexmark. I've had a substantial amount of trouble with this one and I can't get refills or non-Lexmark (store brand) equivalents.
Rumor has it the ink is patented. It is water resistant, so you can use it on address labels without having to protect it. I buy the cartridges from Lexmark on a return program, but they're about $35 a pop including shipping,

If this helps at all. We also have the HP 4580, never any problems. AND I just did a search and found out that at least HP ink is made in the USA.
Before moving fulltime in MH, I had had a lexmark & a dell printer, they each only lasted about 1 yr.

We also have an older HP All in One. Really no reason to get just a printer. Our is not too small and we keep it under the bed. Nice to print out info on campgrounds and maps for the next day's potential campgrounds. It has the ability to print all black which saves money.

Here's a second recommendation for the Canon MP560. I bought mine at Costco last year but they don't carry it anymore. I've seen prices ranging from $79.99 to $119.99 at Amazon but don't know what drives the changing prices. Amazon also has what they say is the newer version of the MP560, the MG5220 for $99.99. As others have said, replacing the ink cartridges is onerous $$ wise but I reduce that as much as possible by buying at Costco. I'll need to look into having the cartridges replaced but in the back of my mind I seem to remember that Canon cartridges aren't refillable.
Horizontal storage space being a premium, the key consideration for me was to find a wireless all-in-one printer that would fit under the Flexsteel sofa in my coach and the MP560 does that. The only consideration is I need to prop the sofa up a foot or so with a section of 2x4 so I can turn it on and raise the LCD control display. It could have been stored in one of the clothes closet but then some type of clothing would have been displaced. Also, this way it's always plugged it and ready to go. For my purposes, this work well.
When I thought about the amount of times I really need to print, much less in color, it wasn't much. If I need to print photos there are numerous on-line and walk-in services of which to take advantage. This led me to look at the Brother HL2270DW B&W wireless laser printer, $99.99 at Amazon. Playing around with this printer in the store, it did what I thought was a good job of printing graphics which would have served most of my graphics needs. But, it just didn't fit under the couch so I purchased the MP560 (do you get the feeling I'm big on saving space ...?).

for simple printing, get an HP, can't be beat overall. Ours is from Sam's Club, less than $100 and travels well in the bedroom closet. When we need it, just plug it in and it's ready to use. HP has the best overall quality for the $.
