Computer Printer
Am in the mood if not exactly in the market for a printer for the motorhome. Wireless, small, scan and print only and inexpensive. My wife has me on a tight budget now that my drug co-pay went up 300%. I know the good folks on this forum will steer me in the right direction. Do prefer H.P. but am open.

This is the one I use: HP ENVY 100 e-All-in-One Wireless
Not the cheapest, but, it does everything I need and has a small footprint. It's nice to put in the back closet, powered from the water heater circuit. Out of the way, yet accessible when I need it.
Take care,
Stu

Personally, I'd get one that I could either refill the ink myself, or buy generics from eBay... regardless of the upfront cost. I had the HP 6180 Wi-Fi/bluetooth that was really good at what it did, 'cept it cost 70-80 bucks to refill the ink! When that finally broke (never HP again...) I threw it out and went back to my trusty Epson Stylus Color 860 with original cartridges and $10 refill kits I get 5-6 refills from

I am a little partial to Brother...cheap to buy, ink is cheap, does it all, and I've had good luck with reliability. Here's a link to what I have in my rig now...happens to be on sale this week at OfficeMax for $60.00...and the ink is about $3.00 - $4.00 per cartridge on ebay. Sale link:
Brother MFC-J410w Color Inkjet Multi-Function Printer
Good luck...

I have used an HP for over five years with good results. have seen a case of the wireless printer that a user next door would get his print out from the camper next door instead of his printer. Have also seen serveral refill cartridges leak and ruin things. I had a refill leak from Office Max (bought off the shelf) myself. These may be isolated cases however.

I would ask myself how much I would be using it. In the last two years I have only needed (wanted) a printer 3 times. It was easy to sit on the floor next to me, or on a close object, and plug in the cord. You can really get an inexpensive USB printer.
Just thinking out loud.
If you really "need" a wireless, there are many out there.

I replaced my monstrous HP all in one with a Lexmark S300 this past fall - a nice $129 printer that I got on sale for $79 at Office Max. The ink is LOTS cheaper then the HP plus photos - they turn out very nicely. I've had 3 HP printers over the years and this one is head and shoulders above any of them - at least so far

+1. We just added a Lexmark wireless printer/scanner/fax/etc. at home to supplement the old HP Photoshop that's hardwire connected to a wireless print server. The Lexmark had an infantile printhead failure - diagnosed online by Lexmark tech support who ran complete diagnostics remotely and shipped out a N/C replacement printhead, but that notwithstanding, it's been great. Ink is substantially cheaper than the replacement cartridges for the HP. It's become our default home network printer.

Not all ink cart. have the same amount of ink. I have a HP that uses 02 cart. the standard size has about half the ink as the bigger one. I get mine refilled @ Costco for $8 (small) and $10 (large).Has worked good so far.

Take a look at the "Lexmark" line of wireless printers. You can find many for under $100. I picked up the X6570 when it first came out for $89. It is a printer, scanner, copier.
Be aware that many of the wireless printers on the market are not "stand-alone" wireless and a Router needs to be nearby. You don't necessarily need to have the router hooked up to WiFi or DSL, but the computer should be to experience true wireless. You can also work with an Ad-Hoc network. You can search on-line on how to set that up for your specific brand of wireless capable computer.
Good luck.

I use a HP Photosmart C4580 all-in-one wireless printer and a Cradlepoint CTR500 Mobile Broadband Router. This setup allows multiple computers and smartphones (via wifi) to share one wireless air card (AT&T, Verison, Sprint, etc) and also functions as the wireless router for the printer. I set the printer on the dash of the motorhome when in use and it's small size allows it to fit in an overhead bin. I have not had any problems with ink as others have stated. I have used the same setup for several years and have not had issues with the cartridges drying up between trips. Except for the power cord for the printer, NO WIRES - Wife is HAPPY!
