Concrete pads
Hi we are just starting the ground in our backyard for our RV to be parked on. We have a 33' Apollo any suggestions so it is strong and wont break down from the weight?

There are several key things you want to have.
1) Firm base below concrete
2) Wire mesh or rebar
3) Extra strength concrete. Standard is 3000 PSI - bump this up to 4000 PSI.

I always plan for the worst, in my shop I went 6" slab in my main bays, in my motor home bay I went 10" slab, 15mm bar on 12" centers on the bottom steel, then 10mm bar on 16" centers for a top steel grid. The steel gives the concrete its strength. As someone pointed out earlier, the ground compaction is very important as well! Good luck

A little EXTRA thickness on the front edge where you will be backing onto the pad is also a good idea. Throw an extra length of rebar in there, too.

I suggest asking a local concrete professional for the best info about the ground prep, the necessary steel reinforcement, etc. in your area of the country.
Specifications differ between areas where it seldom freezes, and areas where the ground freezes 4+ feet down.
