Covering the top of my slide out with a tarp cooled things down

I was really concerned about my computer (desktop) as it was running at about 34 degrees celsius from about 1pm to 6pm and it normally runs at about 29 degrees celsius.

So yesterday evening i drug a tarp up on top of the slideout and tied it down to see what would happen. Sure enough the temp today has not gotten over 30 degrees on the CPU temp monitor. So it helped a great deal to just block the sun off the top of the slideout. It also does not feel like an oven sitting here anymore.

I also have been rotating the air from full force down to segregated vents every other hour which i think helps too. That would be a cool aftermarket gadget if someone made one. Something that would auto change the vents in the AC to go from full down to vents and auto cycle it.

That's one of the reasons we have slide-out awnings.

Many RV parks would frown upon a tarp used for that purpose.

Reducing the sun-loading will indeed help. However, you are worrying needlessly. 34 C. isn't all that hot, assuming you are quoting a reading from the motherboard. About 94 F.

Yup! Personally I would never have an RV without slideout awnings!

I wanted to get slide out awning installed when i got the RV but they quoted me $600 and that was wayyy too much.

By the way you cant even see the tarp laying up there unless you get on high ground, if just folded in half and laying up there, its not hanging down at all.

Also thanks for the tip on Motherboard temp, i thought that was hot but its good to know its not bad.
