That is the only way to actually realize any savings, whatever the card offers.

It is a proven fact that you spend 20% more if you use a credit card. Use cash and save 20%, no card can give that kind of reward.

That might be true if you have zero self control. As mentioned, the key is to pay them off every month. It's also much safer to carry a couple of credit cards instead of a huge wad of $$. I lost my wallet once...it had $40 cash and three credit cards. I didn't get my cash back of course, but I did get replacement credit cards in the mail.

I have two rewards credit cards. One of them earns air miles and allows us to fly to Maui every other year at no cost. The other card is a cash back card. Use caution when buying fuel however, as some fuel stations charge a higher amount per gallon for CC purchases.
