Crockpots are designed to prevent surface temperature’s from getting so high as to cause burns to humans and animals, and/or the melting of plastics (and metals :smile.

You shouldn’t have any problem doing what your saying.

Thought I saw somewhere in a post about a May being out under the crockpot. Maybe not though

If you feel uncomfortable, buy a silicone mat, the type you can use in a microwave, cut it to the sink shape and put the crock pot on top of it. The silicone will probably help keep it from moving.

Why would someone risk being slathered with hot stew during an accident?

Silicone mat or just an old dish towel.

Get the type of mat you'd use on a BBQ grill and cut it the shape of the sink.

Like this one sold at Wall Mart. Click here.

GREAT POINT!

You might want to think about loosely draping a towel over the crockpot. Nothing that won’t let cooking vapors escape or will hold the lid so tightly so as to cause a seal due to condensate dripping down the lid - any more than it with normal cooking.

Or lay a cookie sheet between the crockpot and side of sink to redirect/contain the splash (and possible flying lid).

Please know that neither I or this board can be held responsible for any undocumented “allowed” use by the equipment manufacturer.

In other words, you takes your own risks. 😀

I’m pretty sure that if I’m in an accident such that the contents of the crock pot becomes an issue, I’ll probably not know it.

The cabinets coming off the wall and hitting you will make the stew irrelevant. I’ve seen several motorhome / rv wrecks up close. You wouldn’t believe the mess. Those cabinets and furniture don’t stay put.

We got T boned by a driver doing approx. 25 mph. The $hit goes everywhere.
Get one of those crockpots where the lid can lock on.
