It those people that figure they have plenny of gas, but maybe I should get 30 gallons to be safe.

So now the supply chain is 3-4 day behind, but with the rush they need 8-9 days to catch up.

Now the real question is why has the federal goverment leaders not been doing their job?. We had a bunch of hacking back during the 2016 election and there after in goverment, political and commerce systems. But our leaders have not done anything to address the issue and define standards and develop new safeguards.

I thoughts our leaders had a duty to protect commerce and safeguard the national security??

Gas and pipeline hack.

Am in E NC. Just now seeing more stations opening (limited and with lines) Sun may 17th. Getting better but still takes a little effort. As far as I can tell, diesel hasn’t been effected much. Darn Russians! Our country darn well better step up our cyber security big time!

East coast fuel shutdown

Just traveled from the Outer Banks to Ohio on Saturday. 70-80% of the state of Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia was out of gas. I’d say 50% of the stations we saw were out of gas. Rural areas are the worst. Even saw Pilots and Flying J’s out. They estimate it will take 7-14 days to return to normal. The “official” word is that all will be normal by Memorial Day. Have friends in Pigeon Forge. They reported majority of the area was out of gas.

My suggestion - download the Gas Buddy App and search your route. Be prepared to stop WAY earlier than you normally would. We were pulling a 34’ Rockwood Ultra Lite. Stopped every 100 - 150 miles to be safe.

We’re in NE GA. I needed to fill our car on Tuesday 5/11, so DW could make her 70 mile RT commute. Only 1 station out of 10 I drove to had any gas. All of the stations listed their price @ $2.89 except the one with fuel – $3.19 a gallon. I filled up. Three days later I noticed the same station (Exxon) had priced their regular @ $2.69. All the other stations were still $2.89. I decided to fill up our 2nd car which was down to 1/4 of a tank. I pulled in and read the sign on the pump: “Sorry No fuel”. So, you can price it as low as you want if you don’t have any! Fortunately, other stations had fuel available for $2.89. Today we have a few stations that have fuel, many do not. 10 days ago our prices averaged $2.59.

Stay safe, Joe

Haven’t had a problem in Northern Alabama yet (as of Sunday 5/16/21). $2.75/gal for unleaded.

Just traveled from GA to LA. No issues at all. GA was 2.89. LA is 2.62. Both regular gas. Diesel seems at normal prices as well (always high &#128521.

I just drove a car from Raleigh to North Washington DC and back yesterday. I carried extra gas but I was able to buy gas as long the way. Saw multiple places open with gas. WAWA, SHEETS. RSLEIGH COSTCO HAD GAS on Saturday. I think diesel might be ok. Last week when stations were out of gas the still had diesel.. The pump at WAWA at VA exit 132 N bound I95 only lit up mid and premium for I think a lot 3.399 and 3.999 but I selected regular and it worked. I think it was either 2.859 or 2.959. Regular is mostly around $3 / gal. I saw diesel advertised for 2.999 and I'm assuming supply was ok but not positive.

Unless we get serious about defending our infrastructure and make some sizable technology investments, this will happen again. Our foes are testing us and looking to see how we react so they can plan their next move. The thought that they can impact our supply chain (gas is only part of it) is very troubling. I know Colonial paid the ransom (cheap) and managed to get most of the data back but many do not...... For those companies that don't have a tested strategy to defend against this problem, it's not a question of "if" but "when".

South FL May 16 Update

Since leaving the Keys on Saturday we've found EVERY single Racetrack franchise has been out of diesel fuel. We've driven around north Naples and Bonita Springs and have yet to see a Racetrack with open diesel pumps.

Might be a franchise-specific supply issue as other branded stations have diesel.

Drove to Calhoun (N. Ga) on I75 this weekend and saw no stations completely out of fuel. One I stopped at only had regular, no premium or mid-grade.
