Delivery Driver Recommendations and Cautions

I am researching the good, bad, and ugly of hiring a delivery driver. Trip would be LA to NC, essentially 12 hrs plus fuel, bathroom, and restaurant breaks. RV: 28’ class C (4W5K.)

I have never chartered a driver, but I do know what taking two days off of work will cost. Just trying to be an informed participant and avoid any unknowns.

Any recommendations?
Any cautions?
Anything else?

Most delivery drivers will charge by the mile not the time.

I drive an RV from LA to NC, but I do not do it straight thru. So it is at least a two day job.
Thanks,

Can you be more clear? Is “LA” Los Angeles or Louisiana or Lower Alabama?

You will pay by the mile, there and back to their starting point. Probably also the motel cost, meals. If they fly back, you may be paying that cost.

If you hire a driver, make sure they are covered by insurance.
There are companies that deliver new RV to dealers. Ask a dealer for a reference. You may find a driver delivering to that area from Indiana and would be willing to detour to NC on the way back.

Is the rig setup to tow another vehicle?

It's not Los Angeles since it's only 12 hrs+/-

Los Angeles to North Carolina is over 2500 miles. A 35-40 hour drive.

Can refer you to

I have a member of my golf course that was a professional RV deliverer/driver here Gulfport, MS. that I could personally recommend. However, he is now full time at the local RV/Airstream dealer and doesn't have the availability.

He did highly recommend you contact:
Horizon Transport
100 IN-19, Wakarusa, IN 46573
574) 862-2161

https://horizontransport.co/

He delivered for them for many years, Class C and up to brand spanking new high end Class A's

Not sure if it applies to RV transporters, but it would be worth looking into...

But, for commercial CDL drivers, they will most likely limited to 8hrs of driving time per day, the DOT calls this "hours of service". Unless you hire a set of team drivers, and depending on what "LA" means, the hours of the trip may not be as cut and dry as you describe...

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong or headed down the wrong path...

Archer, you made me laugh, thank you. You got me with Lower Alabama. Never came across that abbreviation till now and I went to school in Tuscaloosa.
