Just would like to ask, what does it cost to full time staying in different camp grounds every week.the idea of seeing the country is real appealing and being a long haul trucker thats getting ready to retire i like the sounds of full timing but a little worried about the cost. we already own a 2006 5th wheel not paid for though. thanks for your views Greg

Buy it thru a business and the depreciation is your friend. I know many people don't have a business but doesn't mean you can't start one of some kind, very cheaply. There are many types of businesses that travel.

So I intend to spend it before I die ... and I reckon lots of it will be on depreciation ...

I look at what it would cost if I rented an RV vs owning one. If I travel enough, owning an RV saves me money!

I bought my 1996 Motorhome new in 97, been in it 12.5 years fulltiming, all lower states & many several times. Only 66,000 miles. Got Banks,new tires, new dome sattellite, Bilstein shocks. Safety Plus & I keep it up inside & out. New whatever it needs or whatever we want it to have. I'm 60 & my wife is 51 & we don't owe a penny. I don't have my whole life planned out. I'm retired & have money to at least pay for most of a new MH, but I don't need or want one now. I don't have to worry about any payments. We do what we want as far as eating out, trips, clothing, getting new furniture etc. I do all the up-keep & refurbishing myself. So, I don't worry about the value, I just enjoy each day & many things others worry about, I forget to worry about them.

I'm not planning on leaving any money behind either. It looks as if our investment will get back to the level they were at over a year ago if the stock market continues on a sensible pace.

That being said, I got this information somewhere, but I can't remember where. This is depreciation off of MSRP.

Year 1 - 35%
Year 2 - 39.44%
Year 3 - 43.88%
Year 4 - 48.33%
Year 5 - 52.77%
Year 6 - 57.22%
Year 7 - 61.66%
Year 8 - 66.11%
Year 9 - 70.54%
Year 10 - 75%

Randco -I can buy those numbers if you are talking % off MSRP. Nobody pays MSRP - most deals in 20-30% off range so real depreciation is much less. My experience - I lost 30% in 4 years on my last coach off actual purchase price = 7.5%/year.

Sorry! I get carried away sometimes.
It seems everytime I'm buying fuel some idiot comes up to me and says"what do u get for mileage"
So I tell them 15MPG & they think that is really bad

There is no question in my mind that those who worry about depreciation are the same ones who spend an inordinate amount of time trying to squeeze every drop out of the fuel mileage question, and don't want to run the generator, for a better "trade-in" value - which then leads to trying to save money on maintenance - HUGE mistake!

There are investment vehicles where, with some luck, you can make the money to SPEND on yourself, in the form of your very own Motor Coach, and the fuel and maintenance to enjoy it. A coach is an investment only in the sense that you are investing in the quality of your remaining years.

Just go ahead and enjoy the heck right out of them!
