Diesel fuel less than regular unleaded

Travelling through Arizona (by motorcycle) we noticed quite a few places that had diesel fuel prices less than regular unleaded. One station we stopped for fuel at had unleaded for $ 2.69 and diesel for $ 2.65. Given our diesel gets better fuel mileage than the gas coaches we considered when purchasing this is making us even more happy. We're off for the summer soon so hoping this trend continues.

Is this something that's becoming common again in other areas? Like the "old days?

All the Snowbirds have left AZ , demand for diesel is down , enjoy the price break while you can , it'll reverse it's self come October, when I get back.

Thanks Skip. We're touring the national parks this summer. If the fuel prices stay like this and the dollar stays the same we may venture up to the Great White North, eh

Diesel and regular here $ 1.21 a litre , X 3.78 for US gallon and X 0.82 for US dollar. Alberta prices are much lower at last report, $ 1.09, but you'll still want to fill up before you cross the 49th .
Children out of school June 15th prices go up for summer travel, and around every long weekend , we'll see what happens this week. Canadian long weekend coming.

Speaking of white , snow in Calgary this AM , edge of storm that's blanketing the Dakotas and WY

There is another variable...state/county/city tax on consumer (not at some Commercial pumps) Diesel.

Some places will never again see Diesel prices lower than gas.

Safe travels

IMO the gas companies have decided the best place to make money is on diesel. Cars have improved mileage so are using less gas. As well car travel drops when fuel prices go up.

The only stable market is the OTR folks who travel every day carrying goods for the consumer.

Been seeing the same trend here in NM. Diesel fuel is now equal or sometimes few pennies less than reg unleaded gas.

Basically diesel has stayed at the same price and gas has gone up.

What drives the fluctuation in diesel fuel demand and prices the most, is not snow birds, or state/local taxes, of refiner/retailer price gouging. It is mostly caused by the fact that the U.S. is the world's largest exporter of diesel fuel. See US becoming 'refiner to the world' as diesel demand grows or http://www.platts.com/latest-news/oil/london/us-diesel-exports-to-europe-to-almost-double-26812319.

Here in southern Oregon regular $2.73, diesel $3.08. Can't remember the last time diesel was even close to the same price as regular here.

I live here in AZ. I've been noticing over the last 2-3 weeks a spike in the price of unleaded while diesel had not changed. Last April unleaded was going for about $2.35 a gallon with diesel about $2.59. Last week they were both running around $2.59. Yesterday I saw unleaded at $2.69 and diesel at $2.79.

I expect to hear that the refiners are now switching to the more expensive "summer blend" just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

Diesel

In the late 60's bought my first diesel farm tractor. Filled the diesel tank for
$.11 a gallon. Reg. gas was some where in the low $.30's.
