about 2.5 gal. of diesel a day.

you may have to be aware of how full your diesel tank is when you park, but otherwise it should be fine, if you don't do it in 100* day or -10*

Good point about the batteries keeping the fridge powered when the generator is off. Our experience at the house during the hurricane didn't involve batteries. I didn't think of that. Your advice is better than mine.

You might get by at night by turning off the generator and keeping the refrigerator doors closed but I wouldn't. During four days of no power at home after the last hurricane we turned off the generator at night and still eventually lost some food in the freezer.
In your situation, I would be staying in a campground with hook-ups.
If I went a night with no Generator the refer would probably kill the batteries. When we drive, we don't ride with the Generator running unless we need the extra AC cause of the pups. But the refer is still on. I assume it is running off the batteries but I was told when you are running down the road that the alternator is charging the house and of course the engine batteries. But like I said. 8-10 hours of the generator being off and no engine running....the batteries are gonna drain out. The refer doesn't have an on/off switch I think it is a direct connect. I don't even think there is a circuit breaker for it but I could be wrong.

You might need more batteries, we have 3 12v that came with the RV and can go at least 10 hrs. before they hit 12.1 volts.
