Where and what happened to the camping world in Elkhart, IN. At Newmar factory, went for ride and camping world was not at HART RV. New store called Camping Discount.

We were there in june of last year and saw no indication of it closing.Thats a bummer.

Having visited this store on several instances, I never felt it was up to par with other locations.....
That's tough when you realize what a presence they could've had in an area of the U.S. many used to call the RV manufacturer capital.

Camping World seems very proud of the merchandise they carry and the services provided and set their prices accordingly. On almost anything they sell, a better price can be obtained with very little effort.
I can see why one of their stores would be unsuccessful when faced with fair competition.

Do any of those businesses listed have a showroom and the variety of Camping World?
I believed they closed because the dealership would not sell out to them.
The same thing that caused the co-located CW at Stinnett's RV to close.
Stinnett wouldn't sell. Agreement cancelled. CW closed.

I have no knowledge concerning the relationship between Hart RV and Freedom Roads.
All I know is Elkhart, being the RV capitol of the world, has many RV related businesses.

I believe Route66 is correct - dealer owned CW franchises are being forced to merge with the Freedom Roads chain of dealers or lose their CW franchise.

I have never found what I would consider to be a deal at any Camping world. Yes nice show rooms and all, but I shop for price not apperance. I could imagine what would happen if Camping world pulls off a Wal-Mart type of system of stores.
