Disheartening event
There was a time that I never worried about anyone stealing or vandalizing any of my camping equipment. That all changed yesterday. Unfortunately I have to store my TT off-site and I do so at a large CG about 30 miles from my home. I have been going out there the past few weeks getting it ready for the camping season. I recently had the awning material replaced and when I picked it up from the service center I found they had replaced it with the wrong material (color). I had to make another appointment and bring it back. I went to do so yesterday and as I went to hook up I noticed a cable laying on the ground under the A-Frame. Some low-life had not only stolen my 2 brand new batteries but, cut all the cables as well! They say criminals aren't too smart and this one wasn't. The cables were disconnected from the batteries, he didn't need to cut them for a "smash-n-grab". The battery boxes themselves were still there as they are bolted down. I suspect it was other campers as it's strictly a campground with a 24 hour gate.
On my way out I stopped at the office to inform them and they could have cared less. I guess that made me just as mad. I'd like to move it from there especially now but everything closer to home is way more expensive.
Just venting . Have been up this morning since 4:30 researching ways to lock down my batteries!!!

I would be mad too. Don't have time for individuals like that. They may be back because it was easy pickings. Put up a trail camera or two.

Theft
One would think the so called RV storage company would have security cameras.

Disheartening indeed!
Was there other theft in your storage area? Need to understand why your outfit. Is it isolated or near a modified exit? Something made it enticing to hit your property.
How you have to contend with the thought of reoccurring theft or vandalism. I like the camera idea...some even give you internet access (just be sure to conceal them or they will be gone too).
You may want to reconsider a new location and suck up the extra cost. If the current office could care less, and the vandal returns, you may not "get off easy" with just stolen batteries an cut cables. Slashed tires, broken windows or gang tags can be a real treat.
I wish there was something more we could do to help....

At a storage lot near me they stripped all the wiring from a bunch of rv's. Even pulled the Romex from inside the walls. I would guess that that would basically total the unit.
Someone on this forum reported that they were stealing 30 and 50 amp cables in campgrounds by cutting them off at the unit. There's a lot of copper in one of those things.

Campnfools--That is horrible, and I'm sorry for you! I once parked my (first-ever-new) car on a city street, attend an all day conference, and returned to find that it had been stolen. That was about 20 years ago and I have never felt the same since. For me, insurance helped a lot, but I'm not sure if your case will be the same. I hope you find a more reputable place to store your baby.

Sorry to hear about this kind of stuff. There is nothing you can do about it. If the low life's want it, they will get it. We were in Colorado Springs last fall, parked the toad downtown in a parking garage, with a real live security guard. Came out about a hour later and they smashed in the front side glass. $2,300 damage to window and door for a $10 pair of sunglasses. If you lock stuff up, they just do more damage to get to it. Odds are it won't happen again. To you are me.

Well, at least on copper-stealing idiot in this part of the world got his just rewards overnight. He climbed over the fence into an neighborhood electrical transformer station near Issaquah and cut through a large cable which was live.
Big flash and bang - neighbors reported an explosion. The perp is in intensive care with 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 60% of his body.

What a bummer! Sure sorry about your misfortune! I'm really glad that we can keep the MH right beside our house. I've heard a lot of horror stories about vandalism at the storage facilities!

Sorry to hear about this, batteries seem to be very hot recently. I saw this that looked like a great deterrent:

If it was a CG with a storage yard you might want to put a quick review in campgroundreviews.com and save some other poor camper the misfortune of having his rig pilfered. If the CG owner had cared I might not suggest the review but your indicating these owners couldn't care......so do other campers a favour....write up the review.

Sorry for your problems. Sometimes paying a little more for a safer location is worth it. Hope insurance covers your loss.

It is so sad that some people feel they need to steal from others to benefit themselves.
