Dishes?

I'm a first time RV'er and bought my "starter rig" in June. I need to outfit my MH's kitchen. I can handle the food prep stuff, mostly; but choosing dinnerware has me stumped. I'm solo but I can easily feed 6-7 inside. So, if the usual RV couples or members of the Swedish bikini team wanna come over, I want to have more than paper.

I'm thinking maybe 6 sets of a10" and 8" plate plus an 8" salad bowl. I've read lots of RV'ers choose Melamine and many, Corrielle. Donno why other than the unbreakable-ness.

If you were starting your kitchen over, what would you buy?

What I use when the hooter girls come over are black plates that look good but plastic and smoked grey plastic glasses don't want anyone to get cut. Then I wake up and eat on paper plates.

We bought the standard Walmart set of Corelle. About $50 bucks for complete service for 4.

Just break out the *good* paper plates. You know the thicker ones that don't need a plate holder to stay flat once you put food on them. Can't go wrong with the red plastic cups

If you really want to get non-paper plates, just go to a thrift store and get some. Pick up some real silverware while there too.

Corelle for the Chippendale dancers. Paper or plastic when it is just hubby and I.

Corelle. We bought a "starter kit" of 4 place settings and have added individual pieces as needed.

We use Corelle also. I cut squares of the foam shelf liner and stack in-between while driving and have not had any breakage or rattling;-). I do have paper plates, but use those mostly for snacks. I do prefer real plates for full meals.

We went to different stores to get the colour, size, shape and design of the ones we use. I think the set of four we finally got from Big Lots was $30. Not exactly china but defiantly not paper plates either. This is our home and we wanted stuff that we liked. 3 years traveling around with them and I haven't broken one ....... yet. But give me time, I am a klutz when it comes to breakables. If I can brake a toe on a dresser drawer really badly or a pie wedge out of the top of the tibia or a fracture where the docs say that I could have only done with jumping out of an airplane with no parachute and I wasn't near a plane then I can brake anything without trying.

Another vote for Corelle. 1 4pc setting is all we need.

Another vote for Corelle...and real glasses and metal flatware. Corelle is light weight and stacks very compactly; more compact than stoneware. Melamine is sturdy, but a no-no for microwave. I hate adult beverages in plastic glasses and I've broken too many plastic knives and forks cutting my pork chop
