What's the extra work? It takes 30 seconds to install the valve. Once the valve is installed, the oil changes are then cleaner as it's easier to swap out the old oil pan when the flow is off, then when it's running - including that first change.
This is about as simple an upgrade as there are.
My only concern about the fumoto valve on my engine is the nozzle is the low point of the system and I get concerned when backing over curb blocks at campsites.

Dealers install aftermarket parts all day long. It's very big business for them. The aftermarket part has to fail CAUSING the warranty repair for the claim to be rejected. If you run into a curb and break the valve and loose the oil and seize (worse case), then it's an insurance claim. No different if you poked a hole into the oil pan with the same curb.

Dealers will only install a aftermarket item if you buy it from them! They would not risk a cross thread or leaky Fumoto valve install for a hand shake, I already checked with Milnes dealership. Besides, if you change a oil plug in 30 sec, you need to start a oil change business. It takes me that long to find a wrench.
The next DIYS oil change is the best logical time for me to install the Fumoto valve.

Well Gang,
First off, THERE IS NO RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did the Fumoto valve change with a full oil pan because I WANTED TO. I did it with full pan just to see if the instructions I came up on, were as accurate as they were supposed to be. And, it worked. If you don't want one on, DON'T DO IT. If you don't want to do it with a full pan, DON'T DO IT. Geeeze. And as far as EXTRA WORK, well, I'll have to admit, it took me oh, maybe 45 seconds to tape up the blow by tube ad, oh, maybe another 40 seconds to tape up the vacuum hose to the oil fill tube.
Yeah, I was tired after THAT EXTRA WORK. And, as for the ones that said dealers will not install parts that weren't purchased from them. Well, not exactly true either. About a year ago, I purchase a set of 4.56 diff gears for our '15 Jeep JKUR from an aftermarket gear supplier. I asked the local dealer if they'd install them and, if so, how much. They said: "Sure, about $600". I said go for it. So, yes, some dealers WILL install aftermarket parts. I can't vouch for all dealers of all makes and models.

I guess you're missing the point....what does having to wait until the next DIY oil change have to do with it. There's anywhere from 19 to 26 quarts in these DP's. These aren't "old fashion oil changes". Since they're only done ONCE a year, I'm not going to wait another year to take advantage of a product that really saves disposing of the oil a much simpler job.

The last point, what's the extra work, either my method or FIREUP's method only adds a few minutes to the oil change and immediately saves you 30-40 minutes of transferring oil to containers and cleaning up the inevitable dripping.

I used to have a Peterbilt tractor with a cat engine. The oil plug was on the side of the oil pan. 8 gallons of hot oil coming horizontal could make quite a mess if it missed the bucket. I put on a fumoto valve and would slip on a piece of clear plastic hose which I would put into a 5 gallon bucket. I could shut off the valve when the bucket was half full and empty into a 55 gallon drum then replace the bucket and continue without making a mess. Best investment I made.

I bet the dealer would be glad to install your Fumoto valve for another $600 labor charge. I am amazed with the craziness over a new toy!

Just a heads up on putting used oil in old milk containers, get them emptied pretty quickly. Please don't ask how I know this but I now only use old oil jugs. Just a hint, Tractor Supply stores seem to all have a used oil dump. On one I think I was the first person to use it and I think one other one didn't even know they had one till I asked them to check. One more hint, a $1 or $2 shower curtain at the dollar store of your choice will generally keep you from getting any oil on the ground or pavement. Just my experience from changing my own oil since Nixon was President, sometimes in hotel parking lots.

Well Sir,
Not sure what your issue was with the milk jugs but, when I did the oil change using the Fumoto for the first time, I think I had 2 milk jugs and 3 ice tea jugs, all 1 gallon each. And, I think they sat around for a couple of days before I got around to taking them down to Auto Zone for disposal. At least I didn't detect any issues that I knew of.
