I met my wife when we were both in high school. We got married after I got out of the navy. We have been married for almost 45 years. We dont always agree on everything but we always manage to work it out. DW does the trip planning and we both have input on the places we go to. She likes antiques and I like planes, trains and automobiles. We usually manage to incorporate a bit of each on our trips. She does the planning and I do the reservations (on the phone or computer). The big difference between us is that she is a night person and I am a morning person. If I am going somplace by myself I will be on the road usually no later than 8:00 am. She likes to start the trips when we take the motorhome around 10:00 am. . When we have a lot of miles to travel we comprimise and usually leave by 9:45am. . Whatta gal........

Thank you. Congratulations to you as well, 31 years is something to be proud of!
I get worried sometimes because I see more and more people getting divorced later and later in their marriages. My brother and sister in law just divorced after 17 years of marriage, my brother and his wife are on the verge of a divorce in their 15th year of marriage.
Can someone tell me what DW stands for? I have seen that around here quite a bit.

Don't let that discourage you. Just hang in there and don't carry on the family tradition! DW means "darling wife" to most. Good luck!

It's been a couple of years since I was last on this forum. My wife and I had a dream of going full time as missionaries to the us.
The dream never happened because about 3 years ago cancer struck her for the second time. We fought it with prayer, chemotherapy and radiation. Twice it looked like she was healed and we began to work at getting a MH to carry out what we felt was a calling from the Lord. She went on to her reward and eternal life with her first love, Jesus. She was only 61. So here I sit a 71 year old with no wife and a lot of questions about what I should do.. I still work full time and will need to until the housing market improves and I can sell my house for what I owe on it. Some how I am finding it hard to regain the passion to carry out our dream, but I don't want to give up on it either. One thing we did wrong was to think we had to go from me working to me retiring and going to fill timing in a MH. We would have been wise to start on a smaller scale, we would have had at least gotten on the road for Jesus for awhile before the cancer struck.
So working on what now and asking God a lot of why questions.

The DW and I will have been married 48 years come September. God picked her out for me as I could not have done as good a job!! Only thing is I can't figure out if He is rewarding me or punishing her!

Nitehawk -- My DW was Gods gift of love to me - he used us in each others lives to bring a lot of healing to our wounded souls. We were married 15 years last September. We were one in every way a couple can be and very close - best friends lovers and mates. All of which makes the loss harder to take. I tell every one to make the most of each moment together for you won't regret it but will regret the shared moments you missed because of business or other things.

I can certainly understand why you are asking God for answers. I can't begin to imagine the turmoil and grief you are experiencing right now, but I do know for certain that God is still in control, and He has not forsaken you! I think you just have to try to place yourself in His hands and seek His guidance as to what He would have you do with the rest of your life.
Don't give up on your dream, but wait patiently for His direction. God bless you!
