New to us coach and first experience with a convection microwave oven. It baked whole russet potatoes fine and didn’t take much longer than expected. However when we attempted roasting diced potatoes with trays on the upper and lower racks the cooking time was twice that of our home oven. Will experiment more with just one pan in the oven - hopefully that will help.

We store pots and pans in ours. Use the microwave / convection oven when baking or cooking.

No. Just a storage area.

I'm a weekend camper so that's a big old no. If I want something baked I do it at home and take it. I do have a microwave/convection combo but it's super old and isn't very good for baking. I rely on our griddle, grill, open fire and crockpots. If I was to do any serious traveling I'd replace the convection combo. The oven in my MH is small and needs lit which is a total hassle. It really makes a good storage space.

In over 30 years of RVing we may have used the oven in our units 6 times. That’s why we went with a convection microwave in our latest Airstream. Virtuallly everything gets cooked on the grill or on occasion in a pan on the stove.

We use the convection oven regularly. It is much better than the previous gas oven in the 5er. To the extent possible we like to use the outdoor grill to bake. So far we have done potatoes, pizza, and pie. Going to try baking bread the next outing.

Can you share more about what grill you use and how you use it for baking?
I’d love to know more.

I miss not having an oven in my new TT. I’m often camping without power so the microwave/convection oven doesn’t do me any good. I have gotten creative, however, with warming things up on the stovetop, using a steam basket and aluminum foil packets. It works, but miss the oven…

For those times when I do have power - can someone tell me what sort of bakeware you use in the convection microwave? I’ve been afraid to use the convection feature, not quite being sure how it works. Does it just give heat, or is it also using microwave?

The Admiral would have never approved getting it without an oven.

No differently than your oven at home. Turn the burners on, monitor the temperature on the cover and place the baking pan or whatever inside the grill and close the cover.
Our grill gets spotlessly cleaned after each use. Nothing tastes like the burgers you cooked a week ago.

Letnegrow, thanks! I didn't think the cover would regulate the heat enough for consistent baking. X2 on the cleaning after every use.
We do use the micro/convection in our rv. DW short ribs in the convection are incredible.
I would rather use the Coleman for lots of reasons!
We use it a lot and have the griddle and stove grates. Adding the ability to bake on it is great!
Thanks Again!,

Micro/Convection oven is what we got, wish we had an oven. We loved it with our boat. Throw a tray of frozen lasagna in, and after about an hour and a half of fishing, hot meal waiting while underway.
