Recycling while on the road

There is an app “iRecycle” which divides the products and then gives you a place close to where you are where the product can be recycled. Cardboard, electronics, paper, plastic, etc.

We travel within our own state year round (AZ), and none of the RV parks we stay at have recycling, so we toss everything in the dumpster. However, I've noticed a lot of RVers from the PNW, in particular, who keep bags outside their rigs to save their bottles and cans.

PLEASE don't do this, these bags will draw all kinds of bugs, not to mention the dreaded MICE, which will chew through your RV wiring in no time. Before we bought our rig, it had previous mouse damage (wiring!), which the old owner had to fix...which cost him thousands! If you "must" save your recyclables, please keep then IN your rig, so as not to attract mice to other people's rigs.

There was a lady in the last park we stayed at right next to us who kept her garbage can OUTSIDE her rig! I complained about it to the manager, but nothing was done. Go figure! Glad we moved on before the mice decided to set up "camp" under our motorhome.

We full time so saving garbage to recycle just is not practical. Our last stay at a Iowa COE park had recycle bins for the 5 cent deposit cans that went to the Friends of the Park fund. We and many others donated their cans and the Friends org was using the funds to build a new walking trail. Win/win for all!
