Doesn't look good . . .

I've been in business my entire life and always felt optimistic even in the worst of economic times. But I've got to say that right now I am really, really concerned. My business is selling pipe and accessories in every material it's made with. Copper, carbon steel, stainless steels, fiberglass, thermoplastic, glass, etc. The prices are absolutely going through the roof. It's the worst I've ever experienced, and by a wide margin.

Look at the unemployment number, the price of food, your cable/phone bill, the number of homes under water financially, gasoline/diesel, the political stalemate in Washington, budget deficit, natural disasters, wars, value of the dollar, etc., etc., etc.

Government said first quarter GDP was 1.8%, WalMart says their customers are running out of money earlier in the month. I think we've got a second dip coming and for those that hung on by the skin of their teeth, this is going to take them out.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm battening down the hatches. I don't think being an optimist or a pessimist is appropriate right now, we need to be realists.

I total agree. What sticks in my mind from 2 years ago is all the talk about needing change, well we certainly got it.

I don't want to get my blood pressure up, but if we don't make a change in 2012, look out, if you think things are bad now, just wait and see what the next fours years brings.

I don't care which party you prefer, both have contributed to the mess. I want my voting message to be that I won't accept political business as usual, with the backroom deals and pandering to any and all special interests. My special interests are my own financial security, which I worked hard to achieve, and the futures of my children and grandchildren. I grieve for the mess they are inheriting.
I think every ballot should have "None of the above" as an option if I don't see a candidate that will honestly represent me and the country.
However, I am optimistic that savvy people will prevail. If only we didn't have to carry the stupid and the careless.

Agree.

We have now finally reached the point in our entitlement society, where the takers out number the workers at the polls. Therefore, if ALL the takers go and vote, we're toast, because there are not enough of the rest of us to counter act them.
