Dometic fridge light not working?

Hey everyone so I have a dometic fridge that the light quit working. Here is where it gets odd. I went and bought a new led bulb to
Replace the original one thinking it was just the bulb. The new led bulb will light a bit but is extremely dim. I don’t have a voltage meter with me right now but there is obviously some power getting to it I am assuming it is very little since it will barley illuminate the led and not the halogen at all? Anyone have this issue before?

Are you replacing the bulbs with 12 volt bulbs? Are the socket ends corroded?

The bulb power is controlled by a door switch. That switch may be bad or has some other fault. If it is switched magnetically, something may be interfering. You will need a volt meter to test that full voltage is reaching the bulb.

Yup, only your voltmeter knows for sure.

Have you tried turning the led replacement end for end?

Use a spray electronic contact cleaner and spray it liberally at the opening where the switch arm enters the light housing .

Then work work the arm repeatedly , pushing it and then letting it snap back to the door open position.

Once the contacts clean up and the light starts working again , spray the same area with a spray penetrating oil to keep it clean and lubed .

Put paper towels wherever the over spray may get on.

This has fixed the interior refrigerator light on our last two Dometic refers .
