Door lock repair

My RV has two door locks. One is a dead bolt that still works but the one that is the door handle won't lock any more. I am concerned about taking it apart. Not sure how many "parts" will fall out and may need more than two hands to put it back together.

Anyone had to fix the door lock and knows what to expect when I unscrew everything holding it together?

Have a Rexhall 1999 Vision.

Thanks for any info.

Not knowing which lock you have I (we) can only guess. Some of the older Bargman locks would need the inside knob tightened as they would vibrate loose over the years. Let us know what brand you have; pics are very helpful too.

Are you still able to open the door? More than likely you'll have to replace the whole thing unless you can fix it yourself. That's what we had to do with a Trimark door latch.

Did you try spraying some lubricant in the key slot? Could just be corroded. Or, maybe the linkage came off for some reason.

I too have a Trimark latch like dvmweb and replaced the whole thing myself as it had broken. Had to take the door completely apart. Here is my report if that might help you decide what to do:

I would not get in any hurry to repair the handle lock. Those have locked more owners out or even worse inside the RV than anything. We only use our deadbolt on ours. I don't trust the door handle locks.

I have a trimark that the outside did nothing once I got inside I took the lock apart a simple fix. The bar that hooks the inside and outside together was bent save a couple hundred bucks in 15 minute repair.
