Dump stations and holding the hose
We are new RV owners and have only dumped our tanks a few times. So far the dump stations depositories have not had threaded receptacles so our elbow is just kinda hanging in there and it seems like it could spring loose if a change of pressure comes through the hose. I've been holding it down with my foot. I don't think I'm always going to want to do that, and it seems like there should be a better way. Any suggestions?

Foot, rock, grandkid, wife, only so many options.

I vote for rock, we don't have grandkids, my DW wouldn't be found anywhere near the hose when in use, in facxt in her world the tank just magically ends up empty.

I use a vinyl saddle bag filled with gravel for this purpose. I bought it from a vendor at an RV rally last year https://thesewersaddlebag.com/ if you buy online they ship empty and you add your own sand or gravel. Overall it works well and stores nicely in the gap above my black tank.

Welcome to the forum!
We're sorry that you first "problem" is so carppy and hope that you find more pleasant discussions.
If at a dump station, often something is there already, but if not my foot works. If at a site, I use something else and many times I can use one of my tarp straps. I hadn't thought about a rock sack...

Ive always used the "stopper" that covers or plugs the dump opening. I used keep a rock just in case. I don't use anything that cant be washed or left behind easily.
While some people have no problem getting right in there, the whole process gives me anxiety. Probably for good reason. The first time I ever dumped back in the 80s the hose came off the fitting right at the valve. Yes it was just like the movie. Being even more OCD about germs back then I just about left the RV there too.

Sounds like a government purchasing catalog description, similar to a plain number 2 pencil being called a Hand Held Communication Device back in my Navy days.

Frequently, there's some rocks, bricks, etc left there to use. Other times I've used a length of heavy chain, 18-24" and drape it over the hose a couple of folds. Like the chain because it can be washed off before being stored if needed.

Here's what we use. It's a 10 pound (or less if you remove individual lead bars from the nylon pockets) weight belt for joggers' legs. Got it at a thrift store. Drapes over the 90° sewer connection.

We rarely stay at a spot with sewer. We don't leave it in the drain so putting a foot on it then isn't a problem.
You mentioned dump site. The ones we go to have this type of plug. Others usually have a rock someone has been kind enough to gather and leave behind.
My husband doing the duty. My daughter asked what we were doing so I sent her this pic at the time. Lol
Those are also rubber dumping shoes. Sometimes people aren't too considerate or just plain stupid.
