Very wastefull to flush with 30 gal. multiple times! There's no need to get it sparkling!

So I ended up getting the tanks flushed this afternoon. The black tank was pretty clean, actually better then I thought it would be.

The gray tank was a gray/brown mixture. This was kind of surprising to me. Over all I am happy with the the borax/ soap method. I would suggest it if someone asked.

Years ago with my previous 5er without black tank flush system, I used to frequently dump a bag of ice in the toilet after dumping and add about 2 gallons of water for the drive home. This was to let the ice bang around and scrub the tank floor while traveling to help break loose any remaining solids or paper that were potentially left behind after dumping.

It may or may not have helped anything, but in 9 years of owning the trailer, I never had any black tank issues. Only thing I really know for sure is that the ice always melted just fine [emoji23].

Happy Trails,

ICE is just expensive water

ICE cubes have little weight (block of ICE would scour but hard to get into the tank whole)
The water sloshing around is what helps

Adding some water back into waste tanks after dumping keeps tank bottom wet so nothing dries out/sticks

There's a video test of this on YouTube. It doesn't do a thing.
