Dust

We are currently in Tok AK having just traversed the Over The World Highway. Most of the Highway is gravel and the dust gets everywhere.

Anybody have suggestions on how to minimize the dust inside the RV and the cargo bids?

Don't drive on long dusty roads, and if you do, keep the windows closed.

Vents and windows closed, AC on recirculate. I collected that dust in 2017 and still cleaning up.

Don't forget to keep the toad closed up.

Well worth the experience.

Tape shut the range hood vent. I get much less dust now after taping mine.

Our Newmar didn't get the dust. Seriously. I don't know what we did different regarding the suggestions you've already received. Were you following someone?

You can't avoid driving those major roads during construction in Alaska. There are no shortcuts.

Using 'recirculate' helps.

The price you pay for the beauty of the trip!!

Speed probably has nothing to do with collecting dust. I went slower than my caravan companions and we all got dusted. I stayed back a 1/4 mile from the car/RV ahead of me.

Tape the range vent hood?? My vent hood just circulates air from the cook surface back into the RV.

I will probably tape the storage bins closed with painters tape and close all interior doors.

We didn't use dash air.

Personally and this is a subjective opinion, I don't think Top of the World Highway is worth it. To much potential damage to the rig. 90% gravel from Dawson City to Chicken and that's about 100 + miles. The jarring caused my passenger side mirror to fall out of it's housing. I didn't loose it because it remained with the rig due to the wires attached to it. Speed was 15-35 mph. The US side is worse.

I thought the high altitude highway in Rocky Mtn NP was more scenic as was the scenic road from Cody to the NE entrance to Yellowstone. Just my opinion.

We were first in line of a number of RV's that got stopped at a construction site somewhere in the Yukon. They did have an escort vehicle in front of us an a couple motorcycles. We still got dusted, couldn't figure out where all of it was coming from.

About 3 years later I decided to convert all my lights to LED. When I pulled each light there was a thick layer of dirt/dust on top. Each light had a large hole cut for the wiring, this provided an avenue for the dust to come in. I taped all of these up while I was reinstalling the lights.

I'm sure that there were also holes cut above all the cabinets also. Not sure what you can do about these.
