ECP Protection

Just signed the paperwork on a new Brinkley I 265, the dealer General RV is trying to sell ECP Protection on exterior and interior for $1710.00. Has anyone had the product installed? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new fifth wheel trailer!!

In my experience, some rv dealers offer exterior / interior protection of some sort. I have no experience with that specific product but have experience with dealer offered ceramic coatings. You may get a better deal if you source that from your own supplier or do it yourself if that is of interest to you.

I can't speak to the protection package you describe ; but; I'll share my experience.

During my purchase of my coach , dealer wanted $7,200 ( 10% of purchase price ) for a whole RV warranty.
I refused ; then in the two weeks after I was offered the same package for multiple discounts , down to less than half of original price ; and still declined
Coverage was for 3 years and it took me over 10 years to spent $7,200 on repairs that would have been covered; none in the first three years.

JMHO: You can read through the coverage if you care to spend the time ; but I believe you'll find there are holes in the coverage and the cost is truly exorbitant .

I had the dealer try to sell me the same sort of product. When I tried to investigate the product, there were no specifics as to what it really was, how it was applied, what the warranty covered, or how to invoke the warranty.

My coach has full body paint. Caring for the exterior is just like a car - just bigger.

I passed on the product.

Just a way for the dealer to make more profit.

Read the fine print! Reread the fine print! Get out the magnifier!

What does the contract say? What does the contract NOT say? What are the procedures to dispute a denied claim?

What are the deductables? Are parts for repairs priced at MSRP? How many times is a repair covered? Does the warranty reset to the date of repair or remain with the original purchase date?

When a salesrep keeps strongarming an extended warranty, I stand up and say that if he's that sure that his product will break, I'd better buy a different brand elsewhere. I've never gotten more than 2 steps toward the door before they back off.

I bought a wallet at Brookstone for $25 one time. The clerk asked me if I wanted an extended warranty. Think the upsale is a moneymaker for the company and the clerk?

When we bought our 5th wheel in 2017, the dealer finance guy offered EcoRv protection with a 5 year warranty. I didn't know anything about gelcoat, and we got such a good deal on the trailer, that I bought it.
After 3 years, the trailer was oxidizing. I made a claim and they sent a guy to my house and he reapplied the stuff. It looked like brand new when he was done.
After the 4th year, it was oxidizing again. I made another claim while we were about to begin a trip. The guy met us in an RV Park in Estes Park Colorado where he did another treatment, but not quite like new again.
I guess you could say I broke even on the deal.

Normally I don't buy any of the "additional" products/warranties a dealer tries to sell, but if you have extra money and think it will give you peace of mind, then it could be worth it in that sense.
Thanks,

In 1989, we bought our first motorhome, and since it had 96,000 miles on it, we spent extra for an extended drivetrain warranty. 6 months later, the rear seal started leaking, and the warranty was denied because the vehicle had such high mileage!!!

First and last extended warranty/protection plan I've ever wasted my money on.

ECP stands for Entire Car Protection. It likely consists of a ceramic coating on the exterior, and fabric coating on the interior, like Scotchguard. Better/cheaper to have it done after you buy by a professional car detailer, rather than the dealer.
