Electrical issue

We have a 2003 Dolphin 35 and had a leak in the clearance lights up front. I pulled the TV out to verify where the water was coming from and while the it was out I lost power to the 110 outlets for the TV, DVD etc. I also lost power to the outlets in the bedroom and aft TV. When I pulled the front tv out everything was fine but the fix the leak project was delayed for some time. I wanted to be sure the fix was done and didn't want to take it out again. Anyway, somewhere along the line power was lost. The RV has been plugged into shore power the whole time. I checked the breakers and there is 110 across all of them. The interesting thing is when I un-plug the shore power and use the inverter the circuits function and there is no 110 to any of the breakers (prevents a backfeed??). Is there a relay or some type of protection circuit that switches between the shore and inverter. I can't find any type of house wiring diagram for the unit that would help me. There is the possibilty that someone (she will remain nameless) turned on the inverter while we were on shore power (bay lights and battery disconnect are right there).

Yes, there is a transfer switch (relay) that will choose shore power when it is available or inverter power when it is not, assuming the inverter is enabled. Not sure how your unit is wired but often there is a main panel that gets power from shore or generator and from that will be a circuit feeding the inverter. The inverter in turn will feed a sub panel which will have most, if not all, wall outlets and microwave. This can vary from brand to brand however. A/C units, water heaters, etc. will be fed from main panel using only shore or generator power.
