Electrical problem

Camping in a 2006 Fleetwood Expedition using generator when microwave dimmed and quit. then generator stopped. have tried plugging into AC but blows breakers. What the problem? smelled burning wires in back of motorhome. Looked everywhere and found no burnt or scorched wiring. Could it be the Freedom 458 inverter/converter? all fuses ok, thinking about taking cover off inverter> Any suggestions
Thanks, Full timer for 5 years first REAL problem

Does your microwave work off the inverter? I'd definitely check all possible systems that might be damaged if you smelled smoke. What other items were on when the microwave and generator shut off?

You joined 5 months ago and are just now saying HI?? Welcome to the rolling nuthouses!

I would be pulling any cover off of anything electrical, starting with the automatic transfer switch. Make sure all power is off, including the "salesman switch". You said it "blows breakers". Which ones, in the coach or pedestal?
My first thought is going to be what you suspect, but you need to start exposing connections to find out. Check the tightness of an screws / lugs you see anyway. If you don't find an issue, turn off all of the AC breakers in the coach and plug it back in. Have somebody watching the ATS and all of the other wiring around it when you do. If it doesn't trip the breaker then, start turning on breakers one at a time and see if one trips and let us know.

I hate when the magic smoke gets out. Good luck.

Well, a late from WA State!

Sounds like the transfer switch burned out!

Loose connection and probably at the AC changeover. Microwave runs off shore power or generator so unlikely an inverter issue.

Must depend on the coach.

The load control system only works for shore power and the generator in my coach.
