What's a facebook? Ok, I'll be serious. I know a lot of folks and organization that use and love these communication methods and I probably should learn how to utilize it. Guess I'm just stuck in the "old school" mode. It took me quiet a while to get into using emails back 12 years ago. After years of using a particular address I had to change it to get rid of the spam and emailers who send stuff just short of porn and would not use the Bcc line on mass emails.

Facebook is Easy
It seems half the world is now using Facebook. For us it is a great way to stay in touch with our friends. Escapees is using Facebook now as another effective way to stay in touch with members in real time and to possibly get new members.

Tried that forum for a while and it seemed rather clicky. Didn't feel real welcome there.

Same here. Clicky is the polite term! They can actually get quite vicious over there.

I've been lucky with email and spam. I'm very cautious with who gets my email addy so I get very little spam.
I will NOT use Facebook, twitter, etc! Besides having better things to do than trying to keep up with them, they are notorious for having poor security yet insist of having an obscene amount of my personal info, which they are NOT going to get. Heck, I won't even give out my phone number anymore (it cuts down on calls from *&^%$#@! telemarketers, surveyors, and politicians, all scum even worse than spammers). Email works just fine for keeping up with friends (real ones, not virtual ones I don't really know).

Me too. Now facebook has re-worked their website to collect even more personal information. Mark Zuckerberger was on TV a few days ago trying to "calm the waters" so to speak, by admitting he screwed up. Facebook members were leaving by thousands.

I will attest to that; some of their members are downright nasty.

I would not doubt that Escapees will go over 300 Facebook friends by next week with just what has appeared on RV forums!
You must be talking about the Escapees forum when you say nasty; I have not met nasty Escapees at their parks or at their rallies. I'm sure there are a few duds like there are anywhere! Please don't be nasty to me for speaking my piece.

I think it might be fair to say people's tastes and perceptions differ. I'd encourage folks to try out the forums at Escapees and make up their own minds.
I've personally found friendly, helpful people there, as I have here. Also a few stinkers, both places.

I have met a few stinkers at Escapees parks seems to be a place where you are graded on what kind of RV you have and how old it the RV is. In some parks they ignore you if your visiting because your not one of them. I used their mail service for years and it was okay now I use America's Way in SD. So good bye SKPs !

There are stinkers in most parks and on most forums. We have never noticed any kind of grading of rigs in any SKP parks. Since there are more full timers staying at SKP parks it just follows that many of the rigs are larger since they are home to the occupants.
As far as forums go, I see no difference between forums. There seem to be lurkers on all forums who are ready to pounce on and flame anyone who doesn't agree with their point of view! It is amazing how quickly these lurkers can respond to posts; it happens almost immediately, it seems.

Oh, I have seen huge differences between forums. Though mostly different in moderation, there are variations in the kinds of posters they have. The Escapees forums are reasonable moderationwise but the dominant click there can be very bullheaded and vicious.
