Unhappy Ever Get Sick from handling sewage hose

Just returned from 6 week trip and am careful when hooking/unhooking my sewer hose using rubber gloves, disinfectant, hand washing etc. but the day we arrived home I started having issues......let's just say its like Montezuma's revenge. Wondering if I contaminated myself...………...headed to Dr. but hoping to avoid a bunch of tests. Others have this experience?

I would say the odds are very low that what you have is caused by dumping the tanks.

Always try to exercise caution like you, and fortunately never been sick because of sewer maintenance in 10 years.

Yes, more likely something you ate unless you were dumping sewer hoses for other RVers. Your sewer hose contains your waste and spouse waste, germs you're already use to.

People get crazy about sewer waste and treat it like it's nuclear material. I doubt you could find one person who got sick from dumping their sewer, where tests show the sewer waste was the cause.

Do you wear gloves when you wipe yourself ?

It was probably the water.

thanks to everyone for the responses; obviously not likely the sewer exposures have anything to do with it, thanks

ICE - ice from public beverage stations is often a source of contamination.

I WILL NOT begin to open the Pandora’s box whether ice was made from the onboard water tank.

Got misted in face when dumping black tank. Next day one eye blood red. Second day other totally red. Got home on third day and parked in eye Dr's lot.

Office waiting room fairly crowded. Receptionist took one look at me put me on the table straight away.

Next seven days had to keep eyes covered and do eye drops and salve.
Bad bacterial infection. Doc said can cause blindness. I was lucky.

Been Rvin for 18 years never a problem..till then. Since then try to use goggles been messin with sewer hose.

Can be more dangerous than you think.

By any chance did you have chemicals in the tank before you dumped it?

No.

But I may have built up my tolerance because I keep my toothbrush within 10 feet of the toilet at home.
